The festival for toddlers that awakens imagination in Vizille
The P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes festival is the annual event for young audiences in Vizille, Isère. For nearly thirty years, it has offered a week of live performances for children aged 1 to 6 and their families every March. The eclectic and demanding program combines theater, puppetry, storytelling, circus, object theater, and children's cinema, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Performances take place at the Salle du Jeu de Paume and the La Locomotive convention center, at a single price of 5 euros.
The P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes festival is an emblematic event in the cultural life of Vizille, Isère. Created nearly thirty years ago by the town's cultural department, this festival dedicated to early childhood and young audiences has established itself as a must-attend event for families in the South of Isère and the Grenoble metropolitan area. Every year in March, for an entire week, it offers children aged 1 to 6 and their parents the opportunity to discover high-quality live performances in an intimate and welcoming setting.
The strength of the festival lies in the diversity and quality of its programming. Each edition offers a carefully selected artistic journey, combining theater, puppetry, storytelling, object theater, paper theater, circus, clowning, and children's cinema. The shows are chosen for their ability to amaze toddlers while respecting their sensitivity: soap bubbles, play-doh characters, object manipulation, shadow puppets, and music combine to create poetic universes where comedy meets the dreamlike and magic. The programming is notably advised by specialists in young audiences' performances, such as Hélène Jusselin from Minizou magazine.
The performances take place in two emblematic venues in the town of Vizille. The Cinéma-Théâtre Le Jeu de Paume, located in Square de la Révolution, hosts the shows in its intimate theatrical setting, ideal for lighthearted performances and small audiences typical of children's theater. The Centre des congrès La Locomotive, located at 261 route d'Uriage, offers a larger space for performances requiring more room, such as circus acts or children's concerts.
P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes is not just a series of performances. The festival plays an essential role in the cultural awakening of the region, also offering film-discussion sessions on parenting and early childhood, meetings with professionals (nurses, pediatricians, educators), and film screenings adapted for toddlers. These exchange sessions enrich the family experience and anchor the festival in an educational and civic approach that goes beyond simple entertainment.
The festival is designed as a moment of sharing between children and adults. The shows are intended to be experienced together, as a family, in a relationship of complicity between generations. Parents, grandparents, childminders, and early childhood professionals will find accessible artistic forms that nurture the bond with children and open up spaces for dialogue and shared wonder.
The 30th edition of the P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes festival will take place from March 22 to 30, 2026, in Vizille. For this anniversary, the festival promises an exceptional program of shows for children aged 1 to 6, including theater, puppetry, storytelling, circus, and music, at the Salle du Jeu de Paume and La Locomotive.
The P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes festival celebrates a symbolic milestone in 2026: its 30th edition. From March 22 to 30, 2026, the event for toddlers and their families will once again take over the Cinéma-Théâtre Le Jeu de Paume and the Centre des congrès La Locomotive in Vizille for a week of performances, meetings, and wonder.
Since its creation in 1996, P'tits Mots, P'tits Mômes has supported thousands of families in Vizille and the South of Isère in discovering live performance. Three decades of programming dedicated to toddlers, featuring puppet shows, storytelling, object theater, and circus, have made this festival one of the oldest cultural events for young audiences in Isère. This anniversary edition will be an opportunity to celebrate this heritage while continuing to explore new artistic forms.
For this special edition, the cultural department of the Town of Vizille is preparing an enriched program, bringing together renowned companies in children's theater as well as original creations. The festival will continue to offer various forms—theater, puppetry, storytelling, object theater, circus, clowning, and music—with a constant focus on quality and accessibility for the youngest. Some shows will be suitable for children from 12 months, allowing toddlers to have their first spectator experience.
In addition to the performances, this 30th edition will feature special events: film-discussion sessions on parenting, meetings with early childhood professionals, adapted film screenings, and a grand closing concert at La Locomotive on the last Saturday of the festival. The detailed program will be unveiled in early 2026 on the website sortiravizille.com.
Bookings will open in February 2026 by phone, online, and at the cultural department's ticket office.
