Street culture celebrated in all its forms in Reims
Born in 2025 from the initiative of the association La Mine and the Reims-based clothing brand Hiwé, the Reims Hip Hop Festival has established itself from its very first edition as a unifying event for urban culture in the city of coronations. The festival offers a multidisciplinary program that embraces all dimensions of hip-hop: music, visual arts, dance, and transmission.
The first day is dedicated to visual arts with the creation of giant murals by talented artists who take over the city walls. The second day features rap concerts and open mic sessions, offering a stage to young local rappers as well as established French artists. The third day is dedicated to transmission with creative workshops around graffiti and writing, followed by an exhibition that closes the festival.
The festival unfolds across two complementary sites. La Mine Galerie, located in the Croix-Rouge district, hosts the opening night with an open mic followed by a concert in the intimate setting of this associative venue dedicated to musical creation. La Cartonnerie, Reims' contemporary music venue at 84 rue du Docteur Lemoine, takes over for the ticketed concerts, workshops, stands, exhibitions, and DJ sets over the weekend.
The Reims Hip Hop Festival places a central focus on artists from the local scene. Rappers like B-Tox, Darkgem, Black Koffee, and Pire Mastaa, regulars at the La Mine association's recording studio, were able to perform in front of a large audience during the first edition. The festival aims to become a springboard for emerging hip-hop talents from Reims and the Champagne region.
