About Saint-Gilles Festival in Rieumes
Every year in early September, the Fête de la Saint-Gilles brings Rieumes to life, with festivities centered around the Allées de la Libération. The town and its local associations—including Les Bals Rieumois, local merchants, and the café Le Commerce—join forces to host refreshment stands, communal meals, and entertainment, all complemented by a funfair set up for the occasion.
The program features a mix of popular dances, open-air dining (featuring moules-frites, veal axoa, and a giant cassoulet), and sporting events—including matches, a cycling race, and pétanque tournaments—along with fireworks and a Sunday mass followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial.
