Sarreguemines, land of ceramics
Sarreguemines is inseparable from the history of French ceramics. Since the 18th century, its faience factories have produced pieces renowned worldwide. The Plant and Pot Market perpetuates this heritage by bringing together ceramic artists and potters from all over the region each spring in the heart of the historic Moulin de la Blies site.
A market in the heart of the Garden of the Potters
The market unfolds in the magnificent Garden of the Potters, a green setting developed around the Moulin de la Blies. The garden paths host the stands of potters and ceramists who present and sell their creations: artisanal tableware, decorative objects, sculptures, garden pots, and contemporary ceramic pieces. Nursery gardeners and horticulturists, for their part, offer rare plants, perennials, aromatics, and seasonal seedlings.
Workshops and demonstrations
Pottery and gardening workshops are offered to visitors of all ages. Children can try their hand at clay modeling while adults discover throwing and glazing techniques. Demonstrations of wood-fired kiln firing and traditional ceramic techniques complete the experience.
The Moulin de la Blies, a heritage site
The Moulin de la Blies houses the museum of faience techniques of Sarreguemines, which traces the history of local ceramic production. During the market, the museum opens its doors and offers exceptional guided tours, allowing visitors to discover the historic kilns and the faience collections that have made the city famous.
A family-friendly and convivial event
The Potters Market is a free and open-to-all event. Musical entertainment, food stalls offering local specialties, and a refreshment stand create a warm and festive atmosphere. It's the perfect opportunity to stroll through the gardens, meet the artisans, and find unique pieces for the home and garden.
A spring event rooted in the region
Organized by the Sarreguemines Museum, this market has become an unmissable spring event in Moselle-Est. It contributes to the renown of Sarreguemines' ceramic heritage and the promotion of artisanal know-how, in a preserved natural setting along the Blies river.
