Traveling festival of contemporary music in the heritage sites of Millau Grands Causses
Created in 2009 by the Millau Grands Causses Tourist Office, the Sites et Sons Festival is a traveling festival that combines contemporary music and heritage discovery. From late July to early September, each municipality in the community of communes hosts an evening in turn in a remarkable site on its territory — viaduct, chapels, priories, Caussenard villages. In fifteen editions, the festival has programmed nearly 200 concerts in exceptional locations.
Since 2009, the Sites et Sons Festival has transformed the heritage sites of Millau Grands Causses into open-air concert venues. This unique traveling festival offers each summer, from late July to early September, a series of musical evenings in remarkable locations in the area: viaduct, chapels, priories, village squares, and natural sites of the Grands Causses.
The festival's principle is simple and effective: each week, a town in the Millau Grands Causses community of communes hosts the festival in turn, around an emblematic site of its territory. Evenings begin at 7 p.m. with workshops, visits, and activities, before the concerts for a musical immersion in the local heritage.
The musical program of the Sites et Sons Festival ranges from hip-hop, rap, Latin music, funk, French chanson, rock, blues, and free jazz. This eclecticism, blending cultural discovery and the spirit of the places, is the festival's hallmark, favoring artists in tune with the unique atmosphere of each site.
Each evening is accompanied by food trucks and 100% short-circuit stands showcasing local producers: Larzac blonde beer, Vieux Noyer estate wines, local apple and quince juice. Complementary activities — wellness workshops, exhibitions, guided tours — enrich the festival experience.
In 2024, the festival celebrated its 15th anniversary with nearly 200 concerts programmed in remarkable heritage sites. From Caussenard villages to the surroundings of the Millau Viaduct, from farm inns to market squares, the Sites et Sons Festival has created a true musical and heritage adventure in Aveyron.
