Departmental festival of vocal music and heritage in the Puy-de-Dôme
The Voix & Patrimoines Festival, organized by the Departmental Council of Puy-de-Dôme, is a major cultural event that takes place every summer from June to July throughout the department. Formerly known as Voix Romanes, the festival has expanded its scope to encompass all the heritage of Puy-de-Dôme: architectural, natural, gastronomic, and intangible.
The festival offers about ten concerts highlighting the diversity of vocal art across eras and cultures. The program combines Renaissance polyphonies, sacred chants, music from the Mediterranean basin, Corsican and Occitan traditions, Georgian polyphonies, and contemporary creations. Each edition explores a specific vocal theme: in 2025, chants from the Mediterranean basin and the Black Sea were featured with vocal styles ranging from ancient Iberian chants to Sephardic traditions.
The concerts take place in remarkable heritage sites throughout the department: Romanesque churches, chapels, castles, and natural sites. This resonance between vocal music and architecture or landscape is the festival's unique feature, offering the public a unique cultural and sensory experience.
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers more than fifty free activities spread across the territory: discovery hikes, conferences, guided tours of heritage sites, tastings of local products, participatory workshops, and meetings with artists. These activities highlight the material and intangible heritage of the towns hosting the festival.
Voix & Patrimoines is aimed at all audiences, from discerning music lovers to families seeking cultural discoveries. The festival works closely with local municipalities, inter-municipalities, and associations to reach the entire Puy-de-Dôme region and make culture accessible to the greatest number. An educational component is also offered in conjunction with the Clermont-Ferrand Academy.
The 2026 edition of the Voix & Patrimoines Festival takes place from June 5 to July 25, 2026, throughout the Puy-de-Dôme. Organized by the Departmental Council, this edition brings together 11 vocal music concerts in remarkable heritage sites (Romanesque churches, abbey church, Gallo-Roman theater, chapels) and more than 50 free cultural activities (singing workshops, singing hikes, guided tours, tastings).
From June 5 to July 25, 2026, the Voix & Patrimoines Festival unfolds its new edition across eight territories of the Puy-de-Dôme. The festival, organized by the Departmental Council, this year strengthens the alliance between artistic creation and heritage, with a program that explores the links between vocal art and territories from here and elsewhere.
Eleven concerts are offered this year, featuring a wide variety of vocal styles: French acoustic polyphonies with Sylvain GirO and Le Chant de la griffe, ancient music with sensitive strings with Niséïs, world polyphonies with La Mécanique des Songes, popular Latin American songs with Canto Chile, film music with Canto Général Auvergne, metropolitan polyphonies with Vilaine, baroque (soprano-lute duo Alia Mens), traditional world music with Emmanuelle Troy and Lucas Demuynck, Russian classical music with Chloé Jacob and Ivan Foucher, jazz/folk with Ellinoa, and contemporary a cappella creations with the Sedna quartet.
The concerts take place in the department's heritage sites: Saint-Julien church in Chauriat, Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Caprais abbey church in Mozac, Gallo-Roman theater of the Corent oppidum, Romanesque churches of Orléat, Lezoux, Usson, Saint-Jacques-d'Ambur, Roche-d'Agoux, Aubusson-d'Auvergne, La Renaudie and Sauxillanges, and the Notre-Dame de Vassivière chapel in Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise.
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers over fifty free activities throughout the territory: collective singing workshops, singing hikes, guided tours of heritage sites, pre-concert meetings with artists, landscape readings, astronomical walks, tastings of local products, and craft workshops. These activities highlight the tangible, intangible, culinary, and natural heritage of the communes hosting the festival.
Concerts and activities take place in various heritage sites in Puy-de-Dôme. Specific locations are announced for each event in the festival program.
