Festivals and events in Burgundy-Franche-Comté on 29-30 August 2026: the Golden Coast brings French rap to Dijon, while Villeneuve-la-Guyard peels its onions and Guillon holds its cantonal fair.
A park rather than a concert hall. The Golden Coast Festival plays until Sunday 30 August at the Parc de la Combe à la Serpent in Corcelles-les-Monts, just outside Dijon. France's first festival devoted entirely to rap gathers its headliners there this weekend, while Villeneuve-la-Guyard peels its onions and Guillon holds its cantonal fair.
The Golden Coast, France's first all-rap festival
Created in 2024, the Golden Coast Festival takes over the Parc de la Combe à la Serpent in Corcelles-les-Monts from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August. No other French festival had been built entirely on hip-hop and rap before it.
Tens of thousands of festival-goers make the trip.
The line-up gathers the biggest names in French and international rap. The setting does the rest: a natural park where the stages go up in the open air, far from the venues where this music usually plays in winter, and where the crowd spends its three days of concerts.
In a region where the musical summer largely happens in churches, abbeys and château courtyards, a rap event on this scale has no local equivalent. The festival is only two summers old. The 2026 edition closes on Sunday 30 August.
From Lake Bourdon to the Théâtre des Roches, the rest of the weekend
Nine other events run on 29-30/08, from the Puisaye to the Jura. Five departments share the rest of the programme.
On the shores of Lake Bourdon in Saint-Fargeau, in the Puisaye, the Mammouth Fest lines up reggae, dub, electro, techno and hip-hop on several stages until Sunday, a fully community-run festival born in 2022 and used to international headliners, from Tiken Jah Fakoly to Julian Marley. In Lons-le-Saunier, Chahut dans le Ciel mixes three days of concerts, circus, street arts and hands-on activities on the Montciel plateau, a gathering carried since 2015 by the Les Colorieurs association.
The Mystère de Sainte-Reine is performed on Saturday and Sunday at the Théâtre des Roches in Alise-Sainte-Reine: preceded by a procession, this centuries-old play retells the martyrdom of Saint Reine, a young Gallo-Roman shepherdess put to death in 253, with the villagers themselves in every role. In Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire, the Festival du Garage Théâtre gives its evenings of theatre, dance and music until Sunday in a former car garage converted into a performance hall by the Les Amis du Garage Théâtre association.
Ideas and books have two addresses. At the Château d'Hurigny in Saône-et-Loire, La Manufacture d'Idées brings researchers, philosophers, writers and film-makers together until Sunday, at the crossroads of the human sciences, the environment and the arts, between debates, shows and screenings in a ten-hectare park. At the Caveau des Maréchaux in Semur-en-Auxois, the Amnesty International Foire aux Livres sells thousands of second-hand books at low prices in the town's medieval setting. The sale runs for three days, until Sunday 30.
Three local traditions close out the summer:
- the Onion Fair of Villeneuve-la-Guyard, created in 1977, fills the village centre with a flea market, a funfair, a producers' market and an onion-peeling contest;
- the residents of the five merged villages meet on Saturday at the cantonal fair of the Fête de Guillon-Terre-Plaine, in the heart of the Morvan regional nature park;
- the Guinguettes Sévigné hold their last dance of the season on Sunday, from 3pm to 8pm, at the Jardin Sévigné in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire, on the banks of the Loire, with a refreshment stall run by local associations.
At the Garage Théâtre, the hall seats just 140 people.
