Events and festivals in Brittany on 29-30 August 2026: the En-Terre Fantastique dresses up Rochefort-en-Terre, the Rias play their last day of street theatre around Quimperlé and the Bretagne Classic rolls out of Plouay on Sunday.
Saturday morning, in medieval lanes deep in the Morbihan. Rochefort-en-Terre, listed among the most beautiful villages in France, hosts the En-Terre Fantastique on 29 and 30 August 2026. Events and festivals stretch across Brittany all weekend, from the Rias' final day around Quimperlé to the start of the Bretagne Classic in Plouay, by way of Jazz en Place's twentieth year in Dinan.
Steampunk, fantasy and outsider art in a listed village
The En-Terre Fantastique festival takes over Rochefort-en-Terre on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August, around the Place des Halles. Admission is free, and the event celebrates the fantastic in every one of its forms, in the ready-made setting of the village's old lanes.
The gathering is young: it was born in 2024.
It is also biennial. One edition every two years, while most Breton fixtures return each summer, which makes the 29-30/08 weekend the only chance before 2028.
Medieval fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk, fantasy, post-apocalyptic, science fiction, gothic and outsider art: eight universes share the village for two days, carried by shows that fill the streets and squares. Rochefort-en-Terre stands apart from the rest of the Breton weekend, given over to fest-noz, jazz and maritime celebrations.

Around Quimperlé, the Festival des Rias plays its final day on Saturday, some thirty free street theatre shows spread since Wednesday across eight towns, steered by Le Fourneau, the national centre for street arts. In Locqueltas, the Les 3 P'tits Ours festival, run by the Nexus collective, mixes concerts, circus, dance, comedy and DJ sets on the Coulée verte site on Friday 28 and Saturday 29.
Fire runs through two one-night events on Saturday. In Pont-Aven, the Fête de la Belle Angèle gathers around thirty classic tall ships in the harbour, sea shanties on two stages and a firework display; the takings from crêpes, mussels and cider go to preserving Brittany's naval heritage. In Val d'Anast, the Festival du Feu, billed as the largest pyrotechnic show in Brittany, combines fireworks, light effects and fire performers at the Maure-de-Bretagne racecourse.
On Sunday, three bills hold out to the end. In Dinan and the Rance valley, Jazz en Place closes the week of its 20th anniversary, free jazz concerts dotted with jam sessions, batucada parades and a brass band. In Rostrenen, the Festival Fisel, founded in 1972, wraps up a week of fest-noz, workshops and the Muzik ha Dañs dance and music contest. The Bretagne Classic Ouest-France, a UCI WorldTour one-day classic held since 1931 and part of the 4 Jours CIC de Plouay, rolls out of Plouay as one of the oldest bike races in France.
