Festivals and events in Normandy on August 22-23, 2026: Orn'Estival plays its second night at the Haras national du Pin, a year after Kendji Girac drew 9,000 people, while Rouen closes Jours de Fête.

Nine thousand people, last summer. That was in 2025, at the Haras national du Pin in the Orne, for the very first Orn'Estival. The second edition runs on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as Normandy winds down a summer season stretching from Bayeux to Mont-Saint-Michel.

Orn'Estival, a second night at the Versailles of the horse

The Orne departmental council runs Orn'Estival at the equestrian sports centre of the Haras national du Pin, in Le Pin-au-Haras. The 2025 launch rested on a free Kendji Girac concert, and close to 9,000 people came.

One date this year, Saturday, August 22.

The evening puts together concerts, choral performances, musical entertainment and fireworks. The setting matters as much as the line-up: the Haras national du Pin, nicknamed the Versailles of the horse, spends the rest of its season on flat racing, hurdles, steeplechase and cross-country at the Bergerie racecourse in Ginai, and on displays of Percherons, Norman Cobs, driving, dressage and vaulting. For one night, the sound system moves into an estate otherwise given over to horses.

A departmental council booking a national headliner on a state-owned stud farm is a recent piece of machinery in Normandy, and 22/08/2026 gives it a second run. Choirs, fireworks and concerts in one evening: the format aims wide, families included.

The rest of the weekend, from Gaillon to Le Havre

Bagnoles-de-l'Orne shares the date with Le Pin: Festival 61 Degrés lines up around ten acts on two stages on Saturday 22, among the orchards of the Bagnoles de Pom' cider house, alongside art shows, giant games and local food. In Gaillon, in the Eure, En Pagaill' wraps up the same night its two days of reggae, dub, roots and dancehall in the grounds of the Renaissance château. Further south, Les Étoiles Symphoniques close on the 22nd their twelve days of free concerts around Verneuil d'Avre et d'Iton, carried by more than 200 musicians aged 6 to 24 and gathered by the Petites Mains Symphoniques association.

Rouen, for its part, draws the curtain.

Jours de Fête, the free outdoor season staged by Rouen Normandie metropolitan authority with Atelier 231, ends on August 22 after some twenty performances in public space. In Le Havre, Un Été au Havre keeps its monumental art installations in the streets, squares and beaches of Auguste Perret's rebuilt city until September 20.

On the Côte Fleurie, the Meeting de Deauville Barrière holds the La Touques racecourse until August 30: sixteen days of flat racing, seven of them Group 1 races, with free family entertainment between meetings.

Three nights of lit-up heritage

Bayeux projects Contemplations onto its cathedral, a free mapping show by the Spectaculaires company: the façade and spire of Notre-Dame fill with the lush plant and animal motifs of naïve painter Alain Thomas, in a summer show the company bills as the work of its image lighters.

Mont-Saint-Michel opens its abbey after dark.

The Nocturnes de l'Abbaye, created in 2018 with the Centre des monuments nationaux, walk visitors from hall to hall through a sound, light and video piece rebuilt every year. In Les Andelys, Richard's Visit takes another route: an actor playing Richard the Lionheart leads a ninety-minute theatrical tour of Château-Gaillard, the fortress he had built in 1196, telling the stages of his own life to visitors he treats as twenty-first-century guests.

Richard's Visit stops on August 23, Contemplations on the 29th, the Nocturnes on the 31st.
