Contemplations — Rendez-vous at the Cathedral

Since 2022, the show Contemplations has transformed the Notre-Dame de Bayeux Cathedral into a living canvas of light and color. Created by the company Spectaculaires, specialists in monumental light shows, this free sound and light show takes over the south facade of the cathedral three evenings a week throughout the summer, from dusk until midnight.

Nature and four seasons in light

The show is a poetic exploration of nature and the four seasons. Monumental projections on the cathedral facade, accompanied by an original musical creation, take viewers on a visual and auditory journey through the cycles of nature. Nine giant floral structures installed at the foot of the building complete the installation, creating an ephemeral luminous garden that dialogues with the Gothic architecture of the cathedral.

An unmissable summer event

The Rendez-vous à la Cathédrale has become one of the highlights of the summer in Bayeux. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings, locals and tourists gather on the parvis and in the adjacent streets to witness this magical show for free. The Bayeux-Bessin tourist office coordinates the event, which attracts thousands of amazed spectators each summer. The cathedral is also exceptionally open in the evening from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM to allow visitors to discover the interior of the building.
