Solar eco-festival on Les Arbousiers beach in Arcachon
The Akupana Eco Festival is a musical and solar eco-festival held annually in Arcachon, on Les Arbousiers beach, between Pereire and Le Moulleau. Unique in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, it combines music (folk, reggae, electro, rap, funk, soul, etc.) and environmental commitment, with a stage 100% powered by solar energy thanks to Pikip Solar Speakers, local designer stalls, food trucks, family entertainment, and ecological awareness actions.
The name "Akupana" comes from Quechua, a language spoken in Peru, and means "sunset". The festival is co-organized by the EcoBass association and the Arcachon-based label Yearning Music. Admission is traditionally free.
The Akupana Eco Festival is a musical eco-festival located in the Arcachon basin. Its particularity: a stage entirely powered by solar energy thanks to Pikip Solar Speakers, a technology that consumes approximately five times less energy than a classic sound system. It is one of the rare 100% solar festivals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Each year, the festival welcomes half a dozen artists and DJs with varied styles: folk, reggae, soul, electro, funk, rap. Past editions have notably featured Wylie Pym, To'ans Co, Midnight Coffee, Mauresque, Matsound & Daredemo, Maneh, and Inna Di Garden.
Beyond the solar stage, the festival implements a coherent ecological approach: recyclable materials, privileged access to cycle paths, partnerships with local environmental associations, stalls for designers and artisans, committed food trucks. Awareness activities (yoga brunch at the opening, wooden games, workshops) complete the day.
Les Arbousiers beach, located between the Pereire and Le Moulleau districts, offers a privileged natural setting facing the basin. The festival usually takes place over one late summer day (from 11 am to 11 pm), with a sunset over the basin that gives full meaning to the name "Akupana".
The event is co-organized by the EcoBass association, chaired by Alexis Proca, and the Arcachon-based label Yearning Music, founded by Adrien Sanchez. It benefits from the support of the City of Arcachon and local businesses.
The 5th edition of the Akupana Eco Festival will be held in summer 2026 on the Plage des Arbousiers in Arcachon, true to the festival's historical format: an outdoor day, late August, on the Arcachon basin, with a stage 100% powered by solar energy.
For its 5th edition, the Akupana Eco Festival returns to Arcachon, on the Plage des Arbousiers, between Pereire and Le Moulleau. The precise date has not yet been officially announced by the organizers at the time of this update : traditionally, the festival is held on a Saturday in late August, from 11 AM to 11 PM.
