For several years, the association Les His'Loire d'Amboise has been offering a unique night show in the majestic setting of the Royal Castle of Amboise. Amboise, Destinées Royales is an immersive theatrical walk that takes spectators on a discovery of the great moments of the royal city, from the medieval period to the Renaissance.
The show is presented as a nocturnal procession through the gardens and terraces of the Royal Castle. Spectators, divided into groups of about a hundred people, follow a route marked by theatrical stations where costumed actors embody the characters who have shaped the history of Amboise. Each station offers a performed scene combining dialogue, narration, and lighting of the castle facades.
Throughout the walk, spectators encounter the emblematic figures of the royal city: Louise de Savoie, mother of François I, who spent her youth at the castle; Charles VIII, who undertook the major Renaissance works; François I, the builder king who brought Leonardo da Vinci to Amboise; and many other figures who shaped the destiny of this royal residence overlooking the Loire.
Lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes, the show is designed to appeal to both adults and children. The light effects on the castle facades, the accompanying music, and the actors' performances create a magical and captivating atmosphere. The beauty of the gardens under the stars and the panoramic views of the illuminated Loire add to the wonder of this timeless evening.
Dominating the town from its promontory, the Royal Castle of Amboise is one of the major historical sites in France. A favorite residence of the kings of the late 15th and early 16th centuries, it houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci in the Saint-Hubert Chapel. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the castle offers a grand setting for this show that brings five centuries of royal history to life.
