The largest light trail in Europe
Arbora Lumina is presented as the largest light trail in Europe. Imagined by the international studio Moment Factory, renowned for its immersive creations around the world (Rainforest Lumina in Singapore, Terra Lumina in Toronto, Astra Lumina in Istanbul), this night walk transforms the Domaine d'Harcourt into an enchanted universe during the winter months.
A sensory journey of 1.2 kilometers
The trail extends for approximately 1.2 km and unfolds in nine scenes that guide visitors through the arboretum and around the medieval castle. Each scene blends lights, video projections, scenography, and original music to reveal the deep soul of the place. Between bark and stone, the dualities of plant and mineral are unveiled in a symphony of lights that makes the trees dance and the castle walls vibrate.
The walk lasts about 45 minutes and offers a unique immersive experience, sometimes intimate under the canopy of ancient trees, sometimes spectacular with monumental projections on the castle facades.
The Domaine d'Harcourt, a millennial setting
The Domaine d'Harcourt houses the oldest arboretum in France, created in 1833, and a medieval castle founded in the 12th century by the Harcourt family, one of Normandy's most illustrious. Classified as a historic monument, the estate boasts a remarkable collection of trees from five continents, including some bicentennial specimens. This exceptional setting, between vegetal and architectural heritage, offers an ideal space for Moment Factory's light creations.
An experience for the whole family
Arbora Lumina is an experience accessible to all ages. Children are amazed by the light effects and animated projections, while adults appreciate the poetry and contemplative dimension of the trail. The path is well-maintained and accessible, allowing for a pleasant walk even for young children.
The trail is open from December to February, at dusk, from Friday to Sunday (and every day during school holidays). It is the third Lumina trail deployed in France, after Alta Lumina in Les Gets and Oceana Lumina in Rochefort.
A major event for Eure
Arbora Lumina is a major tourist event for the Eure department and Normandy, attracting visitors from all over the region and beyond. By combining historical heritage, nature, and creative technology, this light trail contributes to the influence of the Domaine d'Harcourt and offers an additional reason to discover the treasures of Normandy during the winter season.
