About Bains de Forêt Musicaux

The Bains de Forêt Musicaux are an original creation of the Festival des Forêts de Compiègne, combining classical music, forest immersion, and well-being. Inspired by the Japanese shinrin yoku (forest bathing), these events offer guided three-hour walks in the Compiègne and Laigue forests, accompanied by a musician. Yoga and sophrology exercises, attentive listening to nature, and intimate open-air concerts punctuate the route. A unique experience of rejuvenation through music and nature, offered throughout the year.

Bains de Forêt Musicaux: When Music Meets Nature

Created by the Festival des Forêts, the Bains de Forêt Musicaux are a unique experience that combines listening to classical music with sensory immersion in the forest. Inspired by the Japanese shinrin yoku — literally "forest bathing" — this innovative concept invites participants to rejuvenate body and mind through contact with nature and music in the magnificent forests of the Oise.

The Flow of a Musical Forest Bath

Each musical forest bath lasts approximately three hours and follows a carefully designed ritual:

  • Welcome and preparation: the group gathers at the edge of the forest for a moment of introduction and relaxation
  • Guided walk: a guide accompanies participants along forest paths, inviting them to awaken their senses
  • Well-being exercises: breaks are punctuated by exercises inspired by yoga and sophrology, promoting relaxation and mindfulness
  • Open-air concerts: a professional musician performs classical music pieces during stops in clearings and remarkable natural sites
  • Listening to nature: moments of silence and attentive listening to the sounds of the forest

The Forests of Compiègne and Laigue

The Bains de Forêt Musicaux take place in the forests of Compiègne and Laigue, which are among the most beautiful state-owned forests in France. These forests, totaling over 14,000 hectares, offer varied landscapes — oak and beech stands, ponds, clearings, bridle paths — and exceptional biodiversity that enrich the sensory experience.

The Festival des Forêts, Creator of the Event

The Festival des Forêts, founded in 1992 by pianist Jean-Philippe Collard, is a classical music festival that has made the alchemy between music and nature its signature. Every summer, it offers over 25 concerts in 15 remarkable natural sites in the Oise, attracting more than 200 artists. The Bains de Forêt Musicaux represent one of its most original creations, extending the spirit of the festival throughout the year.

An Experience Accessible to All

The Bains de Forêt Musicaux are accessible to everyone, with no particular physical condition required. The walking pace is adapted, and the chosen paths are suitable for all. It is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature, and let yourself be carried away by the beauty of music in a preserved forest setting.
