Human-sized electronic music festival at Fort de Condé
The Béon Essentiel Festival is a human-sized electronic music festival organized by the Bêta Circus association at Fort de Condé in Chivres-Val, Aisne. Created in 2021, it brings together more than 25 artists each summer — DJs, live acts, and artistic performances — in an immersive setting with tailor-made light shows. With its included camping, shuttles from Paris, shared meals, and intimate atmosphere, Béon Essentiel embodies a festive, friendly, and accessible spirit, true to the philosophy of its founding collective.
The Béon Essentiel Festival was born in 2021 from the desire of the Bêta Circus association, a Parisian collective of event organizers and DJs, to create a human-sized electronic music festival, far from large commercial structures. The first edition was held in June 2021 at the Ferme du Grand Béon in Soucy, Yonne, a cultural venue that gave the festival its name. From this inaugural edition, the spirit was set: music, friends, atmosphere, decor, and sun — the essentials.
Since 2024, the Béon Essentiel Festival has taken up residence at the Fort de Condé, a 19th-century historic monument nestled on the heights of Chivres-Val in the Aisne department. This Séré de Rivières-type military structure, a listed historic monument, offers a spectacular setting for an electronic festival: its casemates, inner courtyards, and ramparts are transformed for a weekend into open-air stages, adorned with immersive decor and custom light shows.
Each edition of Béon Essentiel hosts more than 25 artists: DJs, live music, and artistic performances. The program explores the realms of house, techno, disco, downtempo, and experimental electro, with a clear taste for emerging artists and unique artistic proposals. Each edition is built around an original theme: "Au son de l'évolution" (To the Sound of Evolution) in 2022 invited a journey back to the Cambrian era, "5 fruits et légumes par nuit" (5 fruits and vegetables per night) in 2024 celebrated imagination, and "Les Cités Perdues" (The Lost Cities) in 2025 embarked festival-goers on an adventure between myths and explorations.
Béon Essentiel stands out for its spirit of friendliness and sharing. The ticket includes access to the festival and camping for the entire duration of the event, a pay-what-you-want meal on Friday evening, and a complimentary breakfast on Sunday morning. Shuttles from Paris (Porte de Vincennes) are organized at a reduced rate to facilitate access. A preferential rate is offered to residents of the Aisne department, demonstrating the festival's local roots. With its deliberately limited capacity and intimate atmosphere, Béon Essentiel offers an authentic festive experience where each edition feels like a collective journey.
