Free street performances all summer long in the neighborhoods of Caen
Caen Soirs d'Été is the historical name for the summer season of free street performances organized by the City of Caen. For over twenty years, the Norman capital has transformed its parks, gardens, squares, and neighborhoods into open-air stages to host circus, street theater, dance, clown, puppet, and fire arts companies, open free of charge to all audiences.
In 2026, this program primarily takes the form of Éclat(s) de rue, the twelfth season of street arts in Caen, concentrated in August. The season runs from March to December 2026, with artistic workshops and company residencies in the neighborhoods, and a series of free performances in the heart of summer.
Each season brings together about thirty companies for fifty free performances, covering all artistic fields of live outdoor entertainment. The performances are divided into several highlights in different neighborhoods of the city and on the Presqu'île, close to residents. An 'OFF' program, selected by a jury of spectators, completes the lineup.
Caen Soirs d'Été is part of the City of Caen's summer cultural program ('Un été à Caen'), alongside the artisanal night markets set up along Quai Vendeuvre, the festivities of the Fête nationale on July 14th, and Mon quartier d'été. The event stands out for its complete freeness and its presence in all neighborhoods, with the aim of making culture accessible to the widest possible audience.
In 2026, the City of Caen's program of free street performances will be concentrated in August under the banner Éclat(s) de rue, the twelfth season of street arts in Caen. From August 6 to 29, 36 companies will present around fifty free performances (dance, theatre, circus, clown, puppetry, fire…) to meet the public, divided into four highlights in the city's districts and on the Presqu'île.
