A summer of free shows throughout the city of Caen

Caen Soirs d'Été is the unmissable summer event of the Norman capital. For over twenty years, the City of Caen has organized a season of free street performances every summer on Thursday and Friday evenings, from early July to late August. Parks, gardens, squares, and neighborhoods of Caen are transformed into open-air stages to host nationally and internationally renowned companies in circus, street theater, dance, music, and visual arts.

A rich and eclectic program

Each edition offers around forty shows spread across the city, with performances at 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM. The festival covers all artistic fields of outdoor performing arts: contemporary circus, processional theater, urban dance, ephemeral visual arts, clowning, equestrian arts, and concerts. On Friday evenings, night markets are set up along the pleasure harbor, and popular dances liven up the banks of the Orne.

A festival for all audiences

Caen Soirs d'Été stands out for its complete freeness and its presence in all neighborhoods of the city. The goal is to make culture accessible to as many people as possible by offering performances close to the residents. Families, strollers, and the curious gather in a friendly and festive atmosphere, in the heart of Caen's summer. The event is part of the summer cultural program of the Culture Department of the City of Caen.
