About Castel Artes

The Castel Artes Festival is a festival of classical music, dance, and visual arts held every summer in the medieval city of Mirepoix and its surroundings, in Ariege. Created in 2021, it brings together about thirty international artists -- opera singers, dancers, musicians, and visual artists -- in exceptional heritage locations: Saint-Maurice Cathedral, castles, and historic residences of the Cathar Pyrenees region.

A festival of arts in the heritage sites of Mirepoix

Created in 2021, the Castel Artes Festival is a summer event dedicated to lyrical music, dance, photography, and painting in exceptional heritage sites in the Mirepoix region. In just a few editions, the festival has established itself as a leading cultural event in Ariege, attracting a loyal audience eager to discover high-quality artists in a unique setting.

Exceptional artists in heritage settings

Each year, the festival brings together about thirty international artists, including soloists from the Paris National Opera, dancers from prestigious companies, and renowned musicians. Concerts, recitals, and dance performances take place in remarkable heritage locations: the Saint-Maurice Cathedral of Mirepoix, castles, and historic residences of the Cathar Pyrenees region, offering intimacy and privileged acoustics for an intense artistic experience.

An eclectic program of music, dance, and visual arts

The Castel Artes Festival's program is distinguished by its eclecticism and artistic excellence. Opera, chamber music, piano recitals, ballet, contemporary dance, photography, and painting exhibitions are presented during a week of events. The festival also offers masterclasses and an academy that welcomes young artists in training, making Castel Artes a place for transmission and creation.

The meeting of heritage and contemporary creation

The Castel Artes Festival is part of an initiative to promote the heritage of the Mirepoix region through artistic creation. By occupying often little-known or inaccessible venues, the festival offers the public a double discovery: that of talented artists and that of historically beautiful sites. This alchemy between heritage and creation is the unique strength of the Castel Artes Festival.
