Canoe-kayak and whitewater gathering with water releases on the Vézère in Treignac
The Concentration Haute Vézère is organized every year in June (generally the first long weekend) by the Departmental Committee of Canoe-Kayak of Corrèze in Treignac, in the heart of the Vézère valley. Over four days, from Friday to Monday, the event offers water releases from the Bariousses dam in partnership with EDF, creating ideal conditions for whitewater canoeing and rafting. These water releases allow paddlers of all levels to enjoy optimal flow on the Vézère, a river renowned for its technical rapids and preserved landscapes.
The Concentration Haute Vézère program includes guided rafting descents led by certified instructors, accessible from age 12 and requiring the ability to swim. The price includes equipment, supervision, insurance, and return shuttle. Experienced paddlers can take advantage of the water releases to undertake whitewater canoe-kayak trips, navigate the Vézère rapids, and perfect their technique. In 2026, a national level 1 downhill race will be organized on the Treignac course, attracting competitors from all over France.
Each evening, the Concentration Haute Vézère offers free concerts in a friendly and festive atmosphere, allowing participants and visitors to extend the day with music and sharing. An inter-company challenge is also organized, inviting company teams to compete in fun and sporting events in rafting and canoeing. An exhibitor village showcases nautical equipment, outdoor gear, and regional products, creating a meeting and exchange point for the paddling community and nature lovers.
Treignac, a charming medieval town located on the banks of the Vézère, offers an exceptional natural and heritage setting for this event. The Vézère valley, with its wild gorges, deciduous forests, and clear waters, is a prime playground for paddle sports. The Concentration Haute Vézère highlights this natural and sporting heritage, attracting several hundred participants and visitors each year to enjoy the whitewater and the friendly atmosphere that characterizes this Corrèze gathering.
