The multidisciplinary meeting of world cultures in Amiens
Created by the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, the Festival Amiens Tout-monde is a multidisciplinary event that celebrates the richness and diversity of world cultures. Inspired by the concept of "Tout-Monde" (All-World) by the Martinican philosopher and poet Édouard Glissant, the festival offers each spring a program combining dance, theater, music, cinema, and visual arts, in an intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue. European, African, Latin American, and Asian artists meet to question modes of peaceful coexistence in a postcolonial world, between wounds and vital forces.
Born within the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, one of the first cultural centers created in France and inaugurated by André Malraux in 1966, the Festival Amiens Tout-monde is part of a tradition of openness to the world and cultural democratization. The festival takes its name from the founding concept of Édouard Glissant, a Martinican writer and philosopher who defined "Tout-Monde" as "our universe as it changes and endures through exchange".
Each year, between March and April, the festival brings together artists from Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia on the Amiens stages, combining Portuguese and Angolan, South African and Senegalese, Italian and Lebanese energies. The program intertwines disciplines — contemporary dance, theater, world music, cinema, and visual arts — to offer four days of intense artistic exploration.
The Festival Amiens Tout-monde is distinguished by the quality of its programming, which brings together established artists and emerging creators. Renowned directors such as Stanislas Nordey, jazz musicians like Henri Texier and Raphaël Imbert, and choreographers and performers from around the world follow one another on the stages of the Maison de la Culture and its partner venues.
The festival is also a space for reflection and debate. Conferences, artist meet-and-greets, and round tables punctuate the program, inviting the public to deepen the questions raised by the works: identity, métissage, colonial memory, living together, and contemporary creation.
Located in the heart of Amiens, the capital of historic Picardy and prefecture of the Somme, the festival radiates far beyond the city. The Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, a national stage and international production and distribution hub, is the epicenter of the event, but the festival also spreads to other cultural venues in the Amiens metropolitan area.
The Festival Amiens Tout-monde fully participates in the cultural vitality of a city marked by exceptional heritage — from the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art and a UNESCO World Heritage site, to the picturesque Saint-Leu district crossed by the canals of the Somme.
The 8th edition of the Festival Amiens Tout-monde will take place between March and April 2026 at the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens. The festival will continue its exploration of world cultures through a multidisciplinary program combining dance, theater, music, cinema, and visual arts.
The Festival Amiens Tout-monde returns for its 8th edition in spring 2026. True to the intellectual heritage of Édouard Glissant, the festival will offer a new multidisciplinary program celebrating exchanges between cultures and territories.
The full program will be unveiled in early 2026 on the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens website. Spectators will discover creations blending contemporary dance, theater, world music, cinema, and visual arts, presented by artists from all over the globe.
