Pluridisciplinary and popular festival in Malguénac
The Festival Arts des Villes Arts des Champs, also known as the Festival de Malguénac, is a multidisciplinary and popular festival organized every summer in August in Malguénac, in the heart of inland Brittany. Created in 1998 by the association Polyculture, this festival offers four days of concerts, shows, and encounters with an international, French, and local program mixing jazz, improvised music, world music, rock, and live performances. True to its name, the festival creates a dialogue between urban and rural cultures in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
Since 1998, the Festival Arts des Villes Arts des Champs has resonated through August in Malguénac, a small town in central Morbihan. Created by jazz and improvised music enthusiasts who founded the Polyculture association, this multidisciplinary festival has become over the years an unmissable event in the cultural life of inland Brittany, attracting a loyal audience from all over the region.
The festival is distinguished by an ambitious and eclectic program that mixes international, French, and local artists. While jazz and improvised music remain the festival's common thread, the program is widely open to world music, rock, contemporary music, French chanson, and live performances. Each edition offers a surprising musical journey, where genres cross and nourish each other.
The festival unfolds over four days, from Thursday to Sunday, with evening concerts and daytime activities. The outdoor stages host headliners in a rural and relaxed atmosphere, while more intimate stages allow for the discovery of emerging artists. Musical workshops, artist meet-and-greets, and activities for children complete the program.
Located near Pontivy, the commune of Malguénac offers a rural and green setting for the festival. The stages are set up outdoors, amidst fields and trees, creating a unique atmosphere where music blends with nature. The spirit of the festival, true to its name, creates a dialogue between urban and rural cultures, proving that high-level artistic creation can find its place in the heart of the Breton countryside.
Driven by the Polyculture association and its many volunteers, the Festival de Malguénac cultivates values of sharing, discovery, and openness. The associative and participatory dimension is at the heart of the project, with a warm welcome, local catering, and a commitment to cultural diversity. The festival actively contributes to the influence of Malguénac and Central Brittany.
