Exploratory music in unusual venues in Reims
The Festival In Situ – Musiques en tous lieux was born in 2024 from a desire by Césaré, National Center for Musical Creation in Reims, to rethink spaces for listening and meeting the public. This festival dedicated to exploratory music takes over heritage and unusual sites in Reims to offer unique and immersive sound experiences.
The originality of the Festival In Situ lies in the choice of its venues. Musicians embed their creations in the heart of new listening geographies:
In 2025, the festival presented SONOBOX, a new and original creation: an individual sound capsule that plunges each user into the heart of sound for an unprecedented immersive experience. Inaugurated on April 3rd at ESAD Reims, this installation was then hosted in several locations in the city until the end of June: Saint-Ex (digital cultural center) and the libraries of Reims.
Césaré is one of the 8 national centers for musical creation located throughout France. Based in Bétheny, on the outskirts of Reims, Césaré's mission is to foster the emergence of original works at the crossroads of musical aesthetics and artistic disciplines, through a policy of residencies, production, and transmission.
The Festival In Situ does more than just program concerts: it questions our relationship with sound and space. Each place becomes an instrument, each architecture a score. The public is invited to live renewed collective listening experiences, where music dialogues with Reims' heritage.
The festival takes place in several locations in Reims and Bétheny.
Prices vary depending on the events. Some installations are free to access.
