The Fête de Castelnau-Magnoac: Three Days of Festivities in Magnoac
Every summer, in August, the bastide of Castelnau-Magnoac vibrates to the rhythm of its patronal festival. This charming town, the capital of the Magnoac canton in the north of the Hautes-Pyrénées, perpetuates the tradition of village festivals with three days of popular festivities organized by the Comité des fêtes.
A Varied Program for All Audiences
The program combines tradition and conviviality. The days are marked by pétanque tournaments, doubles on Friday and triples on Sunday, and a flag rugby tournament on Saturday afternoon. Each evening, convivial meals bring people together around Southwest specialties: melon with ham, mussels and fries, grilled meats, and Basque cake.
On Saturday, a gourmet market of local producers allows you to discover the flavors of the Magnoac region. The evenings are enlivened by orchestras and musical groups—from Les Gais Lurons to Podium Décibel, Los Calientes, and Shake 'n Mat—who keep the festival-goers dancing until the early hours.
Fireworks: The Climax of the Festivities
On Sunday evening at 10:45 PM, fireworks fired on the edge of the Castelnau-Magnoac lake beautifully conclude the festivities. This pyrotechnic show by the water offers a magical moment, with the reflections of the lights dancing on the lake's surface.
Fairground rides are available throughout the weekend, adding to the festive atmosphere for families and children.
