About Fête de la Crêpe

The Fête de la Crêpe de Gourin is a Breton gastronomic and cultural festival held annually on the last weekend of July at the Château de Tronjoly and its vast park. Created in 1991, this festival celebrates the Breton crêpe in all its forms: tastings of « Mod Gourin » crêpes (Gourin style), largest crêpe contest, culinary demonstrations, and butter-making workshops. Beyond gastronomy, the event offers a rich cultural program: sea shanties, fest-deiz, fest-noz, Celtic circles, bagadoù, craft exhibitions, and old-fashioned threshing. The 34th edition is scheduled for July 25 and 26, 2026. Admission is 8 euros per day (free for under 15s), with a two-day pass for 14 euros.

The Breton Crêpe Celebrated at the Château de Tronjoly

Every last weekend of July, the Château de Tronjoly and its vast tree-lined park become the stage for the Fête de la Crêpe de Gourin, an event celebrating one of the most iconic symbols of Breton gastronomic culture. Since 1991, this popular festival has brought together thousands of visitors around the crêpe, presented in all its variations and accompanied by a rich cultural program of music, dance, and traditions.

The « Mod Gourin » Crêpe and the Largest Crêpe Contest

The gastronomic highlight of the festival is the tasting of « Mod Gourin » crêpes, prepared according to the traditional recipe of the Gourin region on large biligs (cast iron griddles). Visitors can watch the crêpe makers at work, discover the secrets of the perfect batter, and, of course, taste these golden delights. The largest crêpe contest is a spectacular and convivial moment, where participants compete in skill to make the most impressive crêpe. Old-fashioned butter-making demonstrations complete the gastronomic aspect.

Breton Music and Dance at the Heart of the Festival

The Fête de la Crêpe is also a Breton music and dance festival. The musical program combines sea shanties, performances by bagadoù (Breton music ensembles), Celtic circles, and various concerts. The fest-deiz (daytime Breton dance) and fest-noz (nighttime Breton dance) are highlights where dancers of all levels gather to share traditional Breton dances in a festive and warm atmosphere.

Crafts, Heritage, and Rural Traditions

Beyond gastronomy and music, the Fête de la Crêpe showcases Breton rural heritage. Craft exhibitions present local know-how: pottery, basket weaving, embroidery, wood carving. Old-fashioned threshing demonstrations, using vintage agricultural machinery, recall the traditional farming practices of central Brittany. The geology museum and old tools complete this immersion into rural heritage. The setting of the Château de Tronjoly, with its shaded park and historic outbuildings, adds a heritage dimension to the entire event.

A Family-Friendly and Accessible Event

The Fête de la Crêpe is designed as a family event, accessible to all audiences. The admission fee is 8 euros per day, with free entry for under 15s and a two-day pass for 14 euros. Numerous activities are planned for children, and the park area of Tronjoly allows for pleasant circulation between the different festival areas. On-site catering offers, in addition to crêpes, Breton specialties such as tripe and other local dishes.
