The Fete de la Madonna di a Scupiccia is one of the great religious and traditional festivals of Castagniccia, celebrated annually on August 14th and 15th in Cervione, Haute-Corse. Linked to the Feast of the Assumption, it brings together the entire Cervione community around the chapel A Madonna di a Scupiccia, perched on the Scupiccia plateau (approximately 750 m altitude), from where one can embrace a vast panorama of the eastern plain and the Costa Verde.
On the evening of August 14th, the Veillee de la Scupiccia features musical entertainment in front of the chapel and across the entire plateau, in a friendly atmosphere that extends late into the night. On August 15th, Assumption Day, pilgrims attend the annual Santa Maria mass at the chapel, before descending to the village for the procession through the streets of Cervione.
Every summer, on August 14th and 15th, the village of Cervione (Haute-Corse) honors the Madonna di a Scupiccia, a revered Marian figure of Castagniccia. This religious festival, inseparable from the Feast of the Assumption, combines pilgrimage, festive vigil, and procession, gathering inhabitants, families, and visitors around the chapel A Madonna di a Scupiccia.
The chapel stands on the Scupiccia plateau, at approximately 750 meters altitude, an hour's walk above Cervione. The site offers an unobstructed view of the eastern plain and the sea, and is a high place of devotion and a beautiful walk for lovers of inland Corsica.
On the evening of August 14th, the Veillee de la Scupiccia enlivens the plateau: concerts and musical entertainment unfold in front of the chapel, while a refreshment stand and food service welcome the public. The convivial atmosphere extends late into the night.
On August 15th, Assumption Day, pilgrims ascend to the plateau to attend the Santa Maria mass celebrated at the chapel. The day continues with the procession through the streets of Cervione, the village lighting up for the occasion with entertainment throughout the day.
