A night of free concerts in the streets of the city of coronations
Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has been a must-attend event on the Reims cultural calendar. Every June 21st, the summer solstice, Reims transforms into a huge open-air stage. Streets, squares, courtyards, and terraces become ephemeral stages where amateur and professional musicians perform.
The Fête de la Musique in Reims offers a musical panorama of great diversity. From rock to classical music, from electro to hip-hop, from jazz to French chanson, including world music and contemporary creations, all genres are represented. This diversity reflects the richness of the Reims music scene and attracts an audience with varied tastes.
The esplanade of Notre-Dame Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the flagship venues of the Fête de la Musique in Reims. Concerts there take on a special dimension, with the illuminated facade of this Gothic masterpiece as a backdrop. Downtown bars and cafes also offer their musical programming, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city.
The Fête de la Musique in Reims is the result of a collaboration between the City of Reims, local cultural players, music associations, and downtown establishments. Amateur musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets, contributing to the original spirit of this popular festival: "Make music, Fête de la Musique!"
True to its founding principles, the Fête de la Musique in Reims is entirely free. Access to all concerts is free, with no reservations or tickets required. It is this accessibility that makes this event a moment of sharing and conviviality, where all generations come together to celebrate music together.
The Fête de la Musique returns on Sunday, June 21st, 2026 in Reims. As every year, the streets, squares, forecourts, and terraces of the "city of coronations" transform into ephemeral stages to celebrate the summer solstice with music, featuring dozens of free concerts of all genres: rock, rap, electro, classical, chanson, world music. The complete program from the City will be unveiled in the weeks leading up to the event.
Reims' contemporary music venue La Cartonnerie opens its doors for free on Sunday, June 21st, 2026 from 5 PM and showcases bands from its rehearsal studios across three spaces: the Terrasse du Parvis, the Floor (rap / RnB), and the Club (rock).
The big televised concert by France 2 will not be held in Reims in 2026, but the City and local cultural actors promise a rich and eclectic program throughout the city center.
