The gourmet festival of Vire andouille and Norman local products
The Foire à l'Andouille de Vire is an unmissable gastronomic event in Calvados, organized every year at the end of October at the Robert Auvray racecourse in Vire Normandie. For three days, the fair celebrates Vire andouille, an emblematic product of Norman charcuterie, and showcases local produce. On the program: stands from local producers, tastings, culinary demonstrations by great chefs, inductions by the Confraternity of the True Vire Andouille, and entertainment for the whole family. The event attracts nearly 5,000 visitors each year.
Every year at the end of October, the town of Vire Normandie transforms into a temple of Norman gastronomy during the Foire à l'Andouille and local products. This event honors Vire andouille, an emblematic charcuterie specialty of the region, made from pork chitterlings and stomachs, smoked with beech wood according to ancestral know-how. Vire andouille enjoys a reputation that extends far beyond the borders of Calvados.
Founded on October 14, 1995, the Confraternity of the True Vire Andouille works to promote and defend this exceptional product. During each edition of the fair, the confraternity carries out solemn inductions of new personalities, perpetuating the tradition and celebrating the excellence of Vire's charcuterie expertise.
The fair brings together local producers from all over Normandy and beyond, proud to share their expertise and introduce their specialties. In addition to andouille, visitors can taste cider, calvados, camembert, poiré, and other local treasures. Culinary demonstrations by great chefs are organized daily at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The fair offers a rich program of entertainment for the whole family: games, pony rides, music, and shows. The Robert Auvray racecourse provides a spacious and friendly setting to welcome visitors, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the three days of the event.
The 35th Foire à l'Andouille is expected at the end of October 2026 at the Robert Auvray racecourse in Vire Normandie, with stands from producers, tastings, culinary demonstrations, and traditional entertainment.
