Potato festival and friendly fair in the heart of Sologne du Cher
Every first weekend of September, the village of Soings-en-Sologne celebrates the potato with La Parmentière, a festive and gourmet fair that is the pride of this Solognote commune in Loir-et-Cher. The program combines a flea market, gourmet activities centered around the potato and hachis parmentier, concerts, games, and conviviality. Organized by the festival committee, this popular and free event brings together locals and visitors around the flavors and festive spirit of Sologne.
In Soings-en-Sologne, a small village in Sologne du Cher, the potato reigns supreme for a weekend. La Parmentière, an annual fair organized on the first Saturday of September, pays homage to this emblematic tuber of French cuisine in a festive and friendly atmosphere. This popular event has become a highlight of local life over the years and attracts visitors from all over the region.
La Parmentière's program is decidedly gourmet: sale of potatoes from local producers, preparation and tasting of giant hachis parmentier, food stalls offering potato-based dishes in all their forms – fries, gratins, mashed potatoes, patties – and convivial meals on-site. Local producers from Sologne complete the offering with honey, cheeses, charcuterie, and artisanal pastries.
The day is punctuated by numerous activities: a flea market (by reservation) allows bargain hunters to find good deals, concerts and musical entertainment liven up the afternoon and evening, and games for children and adults add a playful dimension to the celebration. Everything takes place in a relaxed and warm atmosphere, reflecting life in Sologne.
Soings-en-Sologne, a commune of about 600 inhabitants located between Contres and Romorantin-Lanthenay, embodies peaceful and authentic Sologne. Its landscapes of forests, ponds, and heathlands, its rural heritage, and its active community life make it an endearing place. La Parmentière contributes to the local dynamic and the influence of this territory through a festive event rooted in the agricultural and culinary traditions of Sologne.
The event is entirely organized by the festival committee of Soings-en-Sologne, composed of passionate volunteers who put their energy into fostering conviviality and village entertainment. Admission is free, and on-site catering allows for a full day in a village festival atmosphere.
La Parmentière is held every year on the first Saturday of September, starting at 10:00 AM. Activities and catering continue into the evening.
