About GBB

The Gouel Broadel ar Brezhoneg (GBB), or National Festival of the Breton Language, is a unique cultural event organized annually by the association Mignoned ar Brezhoneg. For three days, this festival celebrates the Breton language through shows, concerts, fest-noz, film screenings, round tables, and an associative village. The GBB brings together the entire Breton language community: artists, activists, teachers, associations, and enthusiasts, in a spirit of promotion and defense of Breton as a living and official language.

Gouel Broadel ar Brezhoneg: The Celebration of the Breton Language

The Gouel Broadel ar Brezhoneg (GBB), meaning "National Festival of the Breton Language," is a major cultural event dedicated to the promotion and defense of the Breton language. Organized by the association Mignoned ar Brezhoneg (Friends of the Breton Language), this festival brings together the entire Breton-speaking community for three days in a spirit of celebration, sharing, and linguistic activism.

Three Days of Celebration Around Breton

The festival unfolds over three days with a rich and varied program. The free part includes an associative village bringing together organizations working for the Breton language, conferences and round tables on the future of Breton, film screenings in the Breton language, and activities for children. The paid part offers theater performances in Breton, concerts by Breton-speaking artists, and a grand fest-noz that concludes the festivities.

An Official Album: An Taol-Lañs

Each edition of the GBB is accompanied by the release of the official album "An Taol-Lañs", a compilation of songs in the Breton language that highlights the vitality of Breton musical creation. This album contributes to the dissemination of music in Breton beyond the festival.

A Traveling Festival in Brittany

The Gouel Broadel ar Brezhoneg is a traveling festival that changes location every year or every two years. After editions in Guingamp, Spézet, and Langonnet (in Morbihan), the festival will be held in 2025 and 2026 at the Manoir de Kernault in Mellac, in Finistère. This itinerant nature allows it to reach different Breton territories and renew its audience.

Mignoned ar Brezhoneg: Defending and Promoting Breton

The association Mignoned ar Brezhoneg, founded to defend and promote the Breton language, advocates for the recognition of Breton as an official language. The GBB is its flagship event, bringing together thousands of Breton speakers and sympathizers each year. The association is also present on social media and develops digital tools for the promotion of Breton, notably the YouTube channel Ma Brezhoneg.

The 2026 edition of the Gouel Broadel ar Brezhoneg (GBB), the national festival of the Breton language, will be held from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Manoir de Kernault in Mellac, in the Quimperlé region (Finistère).
