About Imaginambulles

The Imaginambulles Festival is a free comic strip fair held annually in June at the Château de Rochefort-en-Terre, one of France's most beautiful villages. Created in 2022 by the association Imaginambulles, the festival brings together about twenty comic strip authors and illustrators for two days of meetings, signings, exhibitions, and creative workshops. In the exceptional setting of the castle and its gardens, the festival offers a friendly moment of exchange between artists and the public, blending the discovery of Breton talents with established figures of the 9th art.

Imaginambulles: Comics Invade the Castle

Since 2022, the Imaginambulles Festival has taken over the magnificent Château de Rochefort-en-Terre every year for a weekend dedicated to comics and drawing. Created by the Imaginambulles association, this free festival brings together about twenty authors and illustrators in one of the most beautiful villages in France, offering an enchanting setting for discovering the 9th art.

Meetings and Signings in the Heart of the Castle

The festival features meetings and signing sessions with invited authors, allowing visitors to interact directly with comic strip creators. The artists present represent a wide range of styles and genres, from classic Franco-Belgian comics to contemporary graphic novels, including children's comics and illustration. The 2025 edition, the 4th, featured Jean-Claude Fournier, the famous Spirou artist and a legend of the 9th art, as its guest of honor.

Exhibitions and Creative Workshops

Beyond signings, Imaginambulles offers thematic exhibitions in the castle's halls, showcasing original plates and works by invited authors. Creative workshops allow visitors, both children and adults, to learn drawing and graphic storytelling under the guidance of professional artists. Conferences and debates on the world of comics complete the program.

An Exceptional Setting in Rochefort-en-Terre

Rochefort-en-Terre, voted 'France's Favorite Village' in 2016, provides an exceptional backdrop of stone and greenery for the festival. The castle, with its exhibition halls and terraced gardens overlooking the valley, creates a unique atmosphere for discovering comics. Visitors can stroll among the signing booths, exhibitions, and the Imaginambar, a friendly space offering food and musical entertainment in the castle gardens.

An Event Rooted in Brittany

The Imaginambulles Festival makes it a point of honor to promote Breton talents in the 9th art while welcoming nationally recognized authors. This mix of discoveries and headliners, in a warm and accessible atmosphere, makes Imaginambulles a popular event for comic strip enthusiasts in Morbihan. Free admission and the magnificent castle setting attract a large family audience each year.

Imaginambulles — edition 2026

5th edition of the Imaginambulles Festival on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, 2026, in the park and castle of Rochefort-en-Terre. On the program: meetings and signings, three exhibitions (including the world of Frank Margerin), comic and manga workshops, debates, entertainment, and aperitif concerts in the castle gardens.

A 5th edition under the sign of Frank Margerin

For its 2026 edition, the Imaginambulles Festival once again takes over the Château de Rochefort-en-Terre on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14. The poster for this 5th edition is signed by Frank Margerin — iconic creator of Lucien and a major figure in Franco-Belgian comics — and J-Louis Hubert, who co-created it. An entire exhibition is dedicated to the world of Frank Margerin throughout the weekend.

Two debates are scheduled: Lucas Vallerie on Saturday at 3:30 PM and Ana Pich on Sunday at 3:30 PM. An artist battle pits authors against each other live at 4:30 PM, followed by a performance by a theater troupe at 3 PM. The day extends into the evening with aperitif concerts in the gardens, starting at 6:30 PM.
