Jazz festival in front of the Château de Cheverny in Loir-et-Cher
Jazzin' Cheverny is one of the ten most important jazz festivals in France. Created in 1998 by Luc Stampers, this festival brings together several thousand festival-goers each year at the end of June or beginning of July in front of the majestic facade of the Château de Cheverny, in Loir-et-Cher. With 4,000 spectators in front of the château and 15,000 festival-goers in total, Jazzin' Cheverny offers an exceptional three-day program, combining free concerts on the village church square and major paid evenings on the stage set up facing the château, attracting internationally renowned artists in a unique heritage setting in the heart of the Loire Valley châteaux.
Jazzin' Cheverny is a nationally significant jazz festival held every summer in front of the Château de Cheverny, in Loir-et-Cher. Created in 1998 by Luc Stampers, the festival has established itself over nearly three decades as one of the ten most important jazz festivals in France, combining musical excellence with an exceptional heritage setting.
The festival's main stage is set up facing the facade of the Château de Cheverny, one of the most elegant châteaux of the Loire Valley, famous for having inspired the château de Moulinsart in the adventures of Tintin. The evening concerts take place in this majestic setting, offering 4,000 spectators an unforgettable musical and visual experience, under the stars, facing the illuminated 17th-century classical architecture.
Jazzin' Cheverny features internationally renowned artists who contribute to the prestige of jazz and contemporary music. Over the years, the festival has hosted legends such as Marcus Miller, Michel Jonasz, Ibrahim Maalouf, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Paolo Conte, and many others. The programming is not limited to jazz stricto sensu: it also embraces soul, funk, blues, groove, and world music, in a spirit of openness and festivity.
In parallel with the major paid evenings in front of the château, the festival offers free concerts on the Cheverny church square. From Thursday to Saturday, these free access concerts allow everyone to enjoy the festival atmosphere and discover artists in a friendly, village setting.
The festival is driven by a passionate volunteer association. Each year, 150 volunteers and 70 partners mobilize to welcome around 15,000 festival-goers throughout the event, making Jazzin' Cheverny a fantastic collective project rooted in the region.
