The most famous pig festival in the Southwest
La Pourcailhade is a unique event, celebrating pigs and the charcuterie traditions of the Southwest since 1975. Organized under the "halle aux porcs" (pig market hall) in Trie-sur-Baïse, this festival attracts thousands of visitors each year to participate in quirky contests and taste local pork specialties.
The program of La Pourcailhade is punctuated by emblematic contests:
Throughout the day, a market of local charcuterie makers and producers allows visitors to discover and taste the specialties of the Bigourdan region. A friendly aperitif at 11:30 AM precedes the pork-themed lunch, and the evening continues with an animated dinner.
Trie-sur-Baïse, a bastide town founded in the 13th century, was for decades the largest piglet market in France and even Europe. La Pourcailhade perpetuates this tradition with humor and gastronomy, making this day one of the most popular and original festivals in the Southwest.
The 44th edition of La Pourcailhade will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Trie-sur-Baïse. The French Pig Squeal Championship, piglet races, and the gourmet market will be present.
Halle aux porcs, Trie-sur-Baïse town center, 65220 Trie-sur-Baïse.
The second Sunday of August.
Free admission.
