La Riboul !: The Breton-Electro Fusion
Born in 2020, the festival La Riboul ! is a bold creation by Ti ar Vro Kemper, the Breton cultural center of Quimper, in partnership with Quimper Bretagne Occidentale. Located in Locronan, one of France's most beautiful villages, this musical gathering offers a unique experience: the meeting between traditional fest-noz and electronic music.
An Innovative Concept
The principle of La Riboul ! is to merge the dancefloor and the fest-noz to create a night of dance and celebration that transcends generations and styles. The programmed artists offer original compositions that draw from the Breton musical repertoire while enriching it with electro, techno, metal, or experimental sounds. The result: danceable music full of festive and positive energy, appealing to both seasoned festoù-noz dancers and fans of amplified music attending for the first time.
Artists at the Crossroads of Worlds
La Riboul !'s programming highlights artists and groups that embody this Breton-electronic musical hybridization. Among the acts that have marked the festival, we find projects like Fleuves (Elektro-Trañs BZH), which blends electronic beats and Breton melodies, NOZZY (Elektro-Tek BZH), at the crossroads of techno and fest-noz, and Triskill (Metal BZH), which propels Breton music into the metal universe. These artists represent a new generation of Breton musicians who renew tradition while making it accessible to a wider audience.
Locronan, an Exceptional Setting
The choice of Locronan as the festival location is no accident. Classified among the most beautiful villages in France, this medieval town in southern Finistère offers a unique architectural and natural setting for an event that cultivates the contrast between tradition and modernity. The cobbled streets, granite houses, and the central square of Locronan take on a festive and electric dimension for an unforgettable evening.
A Festival for Everyone
La Riboul ! aims above all to be an open and inclusive event. No need to know Breton dances or fest-noz codes to enjoy the evening: the artists' infectious energy and the festive atmosphere do the rest. The festival brings together participants of all generations, from teenagers to retirees, from locals to visitors, in the same joy of dancing. It is this ability to bring people together that makes La Riboul ! strong and original.
