Festival of documentary, historical, and societal comics in Sainte-Hélène
La Vie en Bulles is a comics festival dedicated to documentary, history, and societal issues, organized annually in February in Sainte-Hélène, Morbihan. For a weekend, about twenty authors and illustrators gather for signing sessions, thematic round tables, exhibitions, and drawing workshops. The festival, supported by La PACh (Petite Association Culturelle Hélénoise), offers an engaged and accessible approach to comics, with a program combining encounters, debates, and activities for all audiences.
Created in 2022, the La Vie en Bulles festival has quickly established itself as a must-attend event for lovers of documentary, historical, and societal comics in Brittany. Organized by La PACh (Petite Association Culturelle Hélénoise), the event is held every year in February in the Beg er Lann hall in Sainte-Hélène, Morbihan.
Each edition of the festival revolves around five major themes explored through round tables bringing together comic authors, associations, and professionals. The topics covered relate to environmental, social, and human issues: natural resources, parenting, mental health, alternative travel, aging. This thematic approach distinguishes La Vie en Bulles from traditional comics festivals and attracts a curious and engaged audience.
About twenty authors and illustrators are invited to each edition for signing sessions throughout the weekend. Visitors can thus interact directly with the creators, discover their worlds, and leave with signed albums. The festival makes it a point of honor to invite authors with diverse backgrounds, from children's comics to engaged graphic novels.
In parallel with the encounters, the festival offers exhibitions of original plates, drawing workshops for children and adults, nature outings, and concerts. Play areas are set up for families, and a portrait session area allows visitors to leave with an original souvenir. The entire program aims to make comics accessible to everyone, in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
Supported by a team of passionate volunteers, La Vie en Bulles relies on the associative and cultural fabric of Sainte-Hélène and its surroundings. The festival collaborates with local media libraries, schools, and associations to offer activities before and after the event, thus contributing to the cultural influence of this small Morbihan village.
