24 hours non-stop of board games in Châteauroux
Les 24h du Jeu de Châteauroux were born in 2007 from the initiative of a collective of local gaming associations, including the association Jouons à Châteauroux. The concept is simple and bold: to open a giant gaming space for 24 hours non-stop, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, allowing everyone to discover the pleasure of gaming in all its forms.
The festival offers visitors an impressive catalog of over 400 games freely accessible: classic and modern board games, strategy games, card games, role-playing games, miniature wargames, party games, and children's games. Passionate volunteers, recognizable by their iconic orange t-shirts, are constantly present to explain the rules, facilitate games, and advise players of all levels.
Beyond free access to games, the 24h du Jeu offers gaming encounters with local associations that share their worlds: role-playing games, strategy games, bridge, go, miniature wargames, escape games, and many more. Tournaments are organized throughout the event, as well as a creator competition that highlights amateur and professional game designers.
One of the strengths of the 24h du Jeu is its total freeness. The event is open to everyone, families, children, teenagers, adults, and seniors, without prior registration. This accessibility contributes to the growing success of the event, which brings together over 1,200 participants each year from across the Centre-Val de Loire region and beyond.
Since 2018, the event has been driven by the association Les 24H du Jeu, which took over from the association Jouons à Châteauroux. This dedicated structure ensures the organization with the support of numerous institutional and associative partners, making the 24h du Jeu an unmissable event on the French gaming calendar.
The 20th edition of the 24h du Jeu de Châteauroux will be held on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Salle Barbillat-Touraine. A special anniversary for this entirely free gaming marathon which annually brings together over 1,200 players around 400 free-access games, from Saturday 2 PM to Sunday 4 PM non-stop.
The 24h du Jeu de Châteauroux will celebrate its 20th edition on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Salle Barbillat-Touraine. For 24 non-stop hours, from Saturday 2 PM to Sunday 4 PM, over 700 m² of hall space will transform into a real playground, with a game library of over 400 free-access games, animated by volunteers in orange T-shirts.
The 2026 edition is structured around several unifying events: the grand 24h challenge (from Saturday 3 PM to Sunday 3 PM), a giant game of Loups-Garous de Thiercelieux on Saturday evening, a Trio Tournament, and two draws of the traditional raffle (Saturday evening and Sunday morning). Participants accumulate hourly stamps throughout their presence to increase their chances of winning.
As every year, the Protozone remains one of the event's highlights. This dedicated space welcomes game designers who come to present their unreleased prototypes. Visitors move freely between tables, test the creations, and discuss directly with the authors present to explain the rules and gather feedback. For this edition, the team returns to its roots with a simple protozone, without competition, focused on exchange between creators and the public.
Beyond free access to games, more than a dozen local associations share their worlds: Jouons à Châteauroux, La Horde (Argenton-sur-Creuse), Tour des Griffons, Théopol'Jeu, L'Antre des Jeux, the Club de Bridge, Salamandre iGo (Go game), Forgeurs de Légendes, Raoul Terra (live-action role-playing games) or the Ligue Centre Pokémon 36. Several partner publishers are also present (Paria Edition, Borderline, Yeast Games, Epic-Zone, Les éditions Portejoie, Fée Mumuz', Wannagame…), as well as the shops Les Dés Joueurs and Manoir de l'Illusion to extend the experience.
A refreshment stand is open continuously throughout the event: hot meals, breakfasts, cakes, sandwiches, and drinks to sustain the gaming marathon.
The event takes place at Salle Barbillat-Touraine, avenue Daniel Bernardet, in Châteauroux (36000), near the Belle-Isle Exhibition Park.
By car: Châteauroux is accessible via the A20 (exit 13 or 14). Free parking available near the hall.
The event is open continuously for 24 hours: from Saturday 2 PM to Sunday afternoon (generally 4 PM).
Admission is entirely free for all visitors, no prior registration required.
