A festival dedicated to Andalusian music in Touraine
Since 2018, the Les Andalousies Festival has set the Salle Jean de Ockeghem vibrating with the captivating rhythms of flamenco and Andalusian music. This annual March event offers two exceptional evenings dedicated to the richness of the musical traditions of southern Spain and the Mediterranean basin, in a remarkable heritage setting: the former 15th-century Saint-Denis church, transformed into a musical and vocal space, in the heart of Tours' historic district.
A musical bridge between Mediterranean cultures
The Les Andalousies Festival is not limited to flamenco alone. It explores the full diversity of Andalusian music, heirs to centuries of intermingling between Arab, Jewish, Gitano, and Spanish cultures. Each edition features concerts blending flamenco guitar, cante jondo, dance, Arab-Andalusian music, and percussion, performed by artists from Spain, the Maghreb, the Middle East, and France. The festival is part of an intercultural dialogue initiative, resonating with the shared musical heritage of the Mediterranean peoples.
The Salle Ockeghem, an exceptional acoustic gem
The Salle Jean de Ockeghem, located in the former Saint-Denis church at 15 Place Châteauneuf, offers remarkable natural acoustics, ideal for the string instruments and voices of the Andalusian repertoire. This musical and vocal space, managed by the City of Tours, hosts classical and world music concerts throughout the year. For the Les Andalousies Festival, it transforms into a true Touraine tablao, where the intimacy of the venue enhances the emotion of the performances.
A loyal and growing event
Since its creation, the festival has continuously grown in reputation and programming quality. The 8th edition in March 2025 and the 9th edition planned for March 2026 attest to the loyalty of an audience passionate about music from the South. With accessible prices (€15 full price, €10 reduced price, €20 for the two-concert pass), the festival remains open to all lovers of Mediterranean music and culture.
