The biggest gathering for Breton culture in Pays de Lorient
For over 40 years, the festival Les Deizioù (“the days” in Breton) has brought the public together around Breton culture throughout the Pays de Lorient. Led by the association Emglev Bro An Oriant, this popular and unifying festival offers a rich and entirely free program for three months.
Over 150 free events
From the end of January to the end of March, Les Deizioù offers over 150 events spread across the communes of Lorient Agglomération. The program includes:
- Concerts of Breton and Celtic music
- Fest-noz and fest-deiz (Breton dances)
- Theatre performances in the Breton language
- Workshops for Breton dance, embroidery, traditional cooking
- Conferences and screenings on Breton history and heritage
- Exhibitions of visual arts and crafts
- Guided walks and cultural hikes
A popular and accessible festival
All Les Deizioù events are free. This complete freeness makes the festival a truly popular event, accessible to everyone, from regular attendees of Breton culture to curious newcomers. Les Deizioù is an ideal gateway to discover the living traditions of Brittany.
A dynamic network of associations
The festival is the result of collaboration between Emglev Bro An Oriant and a wide network of Breton cultural associations in the region. Each association offers its own events, creating a mosaic of initiatives that reflects the vitality of Breton culture in Pays de Lorient.
41 editions of cultural transmission
With 41 editions under its belt by 2026, Les Deizioù demonstrates the continuity and dynamism of Breton cultural transmission in Morbihan. The festival helps keep the Breton language, traditional dances, music, and crafts alive in a spirit of conviviality and intergenerational sharing.
A festive launch
Each edition begins with an inaugural event that sets the tone for the festival. In 2026, the kickoff was on January 31st in Bubry, in the multi-purpose hall of the Saint-Yves district, marking the start of two months of Breton cultural activities.
