The story of Les Grandes Tablées is one of a generous gesture that became a tradition. More than twenty years ago, the Girardeau family offered a pig to the Saumur-Champigny winemakers, who decided to share it with the best ambassadors of their appellation: the inhabitants of Saumur. What began as a modest table has transformed into a major event, now bringing together hundreds of guests on the Place de la République.
An exceptional outdoor meal
Les Grandes Tablées offer a true gastronomic meal in the open air, highlighting the local and seasonal products of the Saumur terroir. Guests sit at long, white-clothed tables in the heart of the city to enjoy a menu prepared by local chefs and paired with wines from the Saumur-Champigny appellation, including the famous Cuvée des 100 Vignerons, a unique blend bringing together the productions of one hundred winemakers from the appellation.
Saumur-Champigny in the spotlight
The Saumur-Champigny appellation, one of the greatest red wines of the Loire, is at the heart of the event. Winemakers are present in large numbers to introduce their wines, chat with guests, and share their passion for this exceptional terroir located on the limestone slopes overlooking the Loire. The red wines made from Cabernet Franc, smooth, fruity, and elegant, perfectly complement the summer cuisine offered.
An event driven by winemakers
Organized by the Syndicat des Producteurs de Saumur-Champigny (Saumur-Champigny Producers' Association), Les Grandes Tablées mobilize over 200 volunteers each year to ensure the service, reception, and entertainment of this unique evening. In 2013, the event received the label of "Grande Tablée" of national interest awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, recognizing its contribution to the promotion of French wine and gastronomic heritage.
After a break in 2025 to rethink the event's format, the winemakers will return in 2026 with a renewed formula, refocusing on the very essence of Les Grandes Tablées: an authentic convivial meal with local and seasonal products.
Grandes Tablées du Saumur-Champigny — edition 2026
The 25th edition of Les Grandes Tablées du Saumur-Champigny will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM. After a year-long break in 2025, the winemakers return with a renewed format and a new location: the event leaves Place de la République to settle on the esplanade of Château de Saumur. On the program: a large convivial open-air meal prepared with local and seasonal products, a tasting of several vintages of the Cuvée des 100 vignerons, and live music.
25th Edition — A New Lease of Life for Les Grandes Tablées
After a break in 2025 used to completely rethink the format, Les Grandes Tablées du Saumur-Champigny return on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 for their 25th edition. The Syndicat des Producteurs de Saumur-Champigny has chosen to leave the traditional Place de la République to set up the event on the esplanade of Château de Saumur, in a heritage setting overlooking the Loire.
A Convivial Meal Served by the Winemakers
True to the spirit that made its success, the evening takes the form of a large open-air meal, around a long table. It is the winemakers of the appellation and their friends who, voluntarily, organize the event, serve “from their barrel” and animate the evening. The menu is designed using local and seasonal products, accompanied by wines from the Saumur-Champigny appellation.
The Cuvée des 100 vignerons in the Spotlight
A highlight of the tasting, the Cuvée des 100 vignerons — a collective blend bringing together the productions of one hundred winemakers from the appellation — is offered in several vintages, including that of the current year and a mystery vintage to discover. Live music accompanies the meal throughout the evening.
Reservation Required
Capacity is limited to 1,300 meals and 800 “glass only” formulas. Reservation is mandatory (including for the glass only) with Saumur Val de Loire Tourisme; ticketing opens early June 2026. No sales on site on the day of the event. The evening will be held in all weather conditions.

Location
Place de la République, in the heart of Saumur. Tables are set up outdoors on the square.
Access
By car: Saumur is accessible via the A85 motorway. Parking available in the city center.
By train: Saumur station served by TER trains from Angers, Tours, and Nantes.
Booking
Purchasing tickets is essential and must be done online on the website of the Syndicat des Producteurs de Saumur-Champigny. Tickets sell out very quickly, so it is advisable to book as soon as the ticketing opens.
Catering
The meal is included in the ticket price, including starter, main course, dessert, and Saumur-Champigny wines.
