A month of Occitan culture in Bigorre
Lo Mes de la Lenga (The Month of Language) is a festival dedicated to the Occitan language and culture, organized by the association Bigorr'en Trad in Tarbes and its surroundings. For a month, from late March to late April, the event offers a rich program of concerts, traditional dances, cantèras, gaièras, theater performances in Occitan, and activities for children. Created in 2025, this cultural event aims to transmit and keep alive the Bigourdan, Gascon, and Occitan language in the heart of Tarbes.
Lo Mes de la Lenga (The Month of Language) is a cultural festival dedicated to the Occitan language and culture in Bigorre. Led by the association Bigorr'en Trad, the event spans an entire month, from late March to late April, in Tarbes and surrounding towns.
The festival offers a diverse program combining traditional and folk music concerts, Gascon dances, cantèras (singing gatherings), gaièras (festive gatherings), theater performances in Occitan, and activities for children. Students from calandretas (Occitan schools) actively participate with singing and dancing performances.
Created by two childhood friends passionate about transmitting Bigourdan, Gascon, and Occitan culture, Lo Mes de la Lenga is a friendly and popular event. It is part of an initiative to promote the Occitan language and its living traditions, offering moments of sharing accessible to everyone, speakers or not.
Second edition of Lo Mes de la Lenga from March 27 to April 30, 2026. The Occitan culture festival returns to Tarbes with an enriched program of concerts, dances, shows, and activities.
After the success of the first edition, Lo Mes de la Lenga returns for a second edition from March 27 to April 30, 2026. The program again offers a full month of living Occitan culture in Tarbes and Bigorre.
Events take place in various locations in Tarbes and surrounding areas, including concert halls, bars, and cultural spaces.
