The big jazz event in Essonne at the Théâtre de Longjumeau
Created in 2018 at the Théâtre de Longjumeau, the Longjumeau Jazz Festival has become in a few editions an essential event on the Parisian jazz scene. Every May, the 954-seat venue hosts several concerts featuring confirmed international artists and new voices of contemporary jazz: bebop, fusion jazz, gypsy jazz, soul jazz, and experimental music. A demanding and warm program.
Inaugurated in 2018 on the initiative of the Théâtre de Longjumeau (directed by Philippe Bellot), the Longjumeau Jazz Festival has rapidly become a major event on the jazz scene in Île-de-France. Its ambitious programming, quality venue, and loyal audience have allowed it to establish itself in less than a decade as one of the most anticipated cultural events in Essonne.
Located at 20 avenue du Général-de-Gaulle in Longjumeau, the Théâtre de Longjumeau is a venue with remarkable acoustics that can accommodate 954 spectators in its main hall and 300 in its auditorium. This setting, both intimate and generous, is perfectly suited for jazz music, allowing for attentive listening and a real connection between musicians and the audience. The venue is renowned throughout the Paris region for the quality of its listening conditions.
The Longjumeau Jazz Festival's program covers the entire spectrum of contemporary jazz: fusion jazz, bebop, vocal jazz, gypsy jazz, soul jazz, electric jazz, free jazz, and contemporary creations at the border of other genres. Each edition revolves around several concerts over a week, alternating between recognized headliners and emerging artists, foreign artists, and representatives of the French scene.
The 7th edition was held from May 13 to 18, 2025. It featured a top-tier lineup: Keziah Jones for a high-intensity afrobeat-jazz evening, Viktor Lazlo for a journey between vocal jazz and French chanson, Erik Truffaz for a jazz-electronic trumpet evening, and Maher Beauroy for an exploration of Caribbean music. The specialized press and the public unanimously praised the quality of this edition.
The 8th edition of the Longjumeau Jazz Festival is scheduled around May 30, 2026. A notable opening concert with Michel Jonasz has been announced. The rest of the program, currently being finalized, will be unveiled soon on the Théâtre de Longjumeau website.
The Longjumeau Jazz Festival actively contributes to the cultural influence of Longjumeau and the Essonne region. It attracts music lovers from all over Île-de-France and participates in local cultural life through educational activities (jazz workshops, concerts in schools, artist meet-and-greets) that transmit the love of jazz to younger generations.
