Thirteen free stages in the city center on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Dijon celebrates the Fête de la Musique throughout its historic city center: from Place de la Libération to the courtyards of the Ducal Palace, from squares to gardens, every space becomes an open stage. Organized by the City of Dijon, the day is entirely free and mixes all styles, from French chanson to metal, from jazz to electro, from rap to traditional music.
Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become one of Dijon's major popular summer events. On June 21, music takes over public spaces: amateurs, music schools, the Regional Conservatory, and local artists play for free in the squares, forecourts, courtyards, and gardens of the protected area, from late afternoon until the heart of the night.
Each year, the City of Dijon designates about ten thematic stages spread throughout the historic center, complemented by initiatives from bars, associations, music schools, and choirs. You'll find vocal ensembles and brass bands, as well as showcases for young talents, contemporary music groups, and DJ sets.
Among the emblematic locations of the festival: Place de la Libération and its central stage, Square des Bénédictins, Place François-Rude, Parvis Saint-Philibert, Cour de Vogüé, Jardin des Apothicaires, Place des Cordeliers, and Place Jean-Macé. Genres coexist without hierarchy: French chanson, choirs, jazz, rap, electro, dub, metal, and traditional music.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Dijon takes place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge throughout the historic city center. Thirteen thematic stages, certified by the City of Dijon, animate the squares and gardens of the preserved sector, with acoustic performances from 4 PM until the heart of the night.
Overview of the stages announced for the 2026 edition, sector by sector. From 4 PM, several acoustic groups (brass bands, street groups) will occupy different areas of the center — port du canal, parvis de la Cité, place Sainte-Chapelle, rue de la Liberté, place Bossuet — before the official opening of the festive perimeter at 5 PM.
