Music Festival in Dijon — edition 2026

The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Dijon takes place on Sunday, June 21st, with free events throughout the historic city center. Thirteen themed stages, officially designated by the City of Dijon, will bring the squares, courtyards, and gardens of the protected heritage area to life: pop-rock at the City stage, jazz at the Cordeliers, metal at the Apothicaires, electro at the Bénédictins, rap at Saint-Philibert, and choral performances at the Palais des Ducs courtyards. Brass bands will begin roaming the streets at 4:00 PM, the festival perimeter officially opens at 5:00 PM, and music concludes at 10:30 PM.

How the day unfolds

The day builds up in three stages. Starting at 4:00 PM, acoustic ensembles—brass bands, street bands, and percussion groups—will take over various spots in the center: the canal port, the Cité forecourt, Place Sainte-Chapelle, Rue de la Liberté, and Place Bossuet. At 5:00 PM, the festival perimeter officially opens, and the thirteen themed stages begin, each with its own genre and lineup. At 10:30 PM, a municipal decree requires all street music in Dijon to stop.

The Fête de la Musique in Dijon

Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become one of Dijon's major popular summer events. On June 21, music takes over public spaces: amateurs, music schools, the Regional Conservatory, and local artists play for free in the squares, forecourts, courtyards, and gardens of the protected area, from late afternoon until the heart of the night.

A festival spread throughout the city center

Each year, the City of Dijon designates about ten thematic stages spread throughout the historic center, complemented by initiatives from bars, associations, music schools, and choirs. You'll find vocal ensembles and brass bands, as well as showcases for young talents, contemporary music groups, and DJ sets.

Among the emblematic locations of the festival: Place de la Libération and its central stage, Square des Bénédictins, Place François-Rude, Parvis Saint-Philibert, Cour de Vogüé, Jardin des Apothicaires, Place des Cordeliers, and Place Jean-Macé. Genres coexist without hierarchy: French chanson, choirs, jazz, rap, electro, dub, metal, and traditional music.
