Six free stages in the city center on Saturday, June 20, 2026
In Lorient, the Fête de la Musique takes over the city center each year for a big free evening. In 2026, the event is set for Saturday, June 20, from 2 PM to 1 AM: around forty groups and solo artists perform on six stages spread throughout the city, from rock to electro, from fest-noz to chanson, from traditional music to rap. Organized by the Ville de Lorient, the festival is entirely free and open to all.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Lorient into an open-air stage. For one evening, squares, pedestrian streets, terraces, and gardens in the city center welcome amateur musicians and confirmed artists for free, in all genres and for all audiences, until late into the night.
The 2026 edition is organized around six main stage areas: Glotin, Hôtel de Ville, Aristide Briand, Paul-Bert squares, the Péristyle esplanade, and the gardens of Villa La Frégate. The most important concerts are concentrated in Place de l'Hôtel de Ville and Place Aristide Briand, while the other venues host more intimate formations and amateur musicians.
The program is eclectic: rock, electro, folk, classical, blues, rap, hip-hop, jazz, reggae, choral singing, and traditional music from here and elsewhere. The Conservatory and the network of media libraries participate in the festival, the Breton federation Emglev Bro an Oriant animates a fest-noz, the Lorient Pipe Band parades through the streets, and dance demonstrations take place in all corners of the city center. A musical afternoon is also offered in the gardens of Villa La Frégate.
