Every June 21, Pamiers celebrates the Fête de la Musique: local groups, music schools, and guest artists play for free in the streets, squares, and Place de la République, in the heart of Ariège. Organized by the City of Pamiers, the day is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Pamiers
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Pamiers into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces: local groups, music school students, and guest artists perform successively in the streets, squares, bars, and cultural venues of the Appamean city, from early afternoon until late in the evening.
A celebration in the heart of the city
At the center of the festivities, the recently redeveloped Place de la République hosts a major musical and festive event organized by the City of Pamiers, extending the spirit of the Fête de la Musique with concerts, brass bands, and entertainment for all ages. The celebration continues throughout the city center, where everyone can discover concerts of various styles along the streets — rock, chanson, world music, jazz, or contemporary music.
