When bistros become concert stages

The O'Bistrot Festival is a traveling musical event created by the Communauté de Communes Picardie des Châteaux, in the south of the Aisne department. Its concept is simple and friendly: transform the bars and cafés in the area into ephemeral musical stages for four evenings. Artists set up at the counter or in the bistro's main room to offer intimate and free concerts, in a warm atmosphere where music blends with conversations and shared drinks.

A festival rooted in the Picardie des Châteaux territory

The festival unfolds across the territory of the Communauté de Communes Picardie des Châteaux, which includes 36 communes around Pinon, Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique, Crécy-au-Mont, Vauxaillon, and Barisis-aux-Bois. This area, located between Laon, Soissons, and Chauny, boasts a rich medieval heritage dominated by the ruins of Coucy Castle and the Abbey of Prémontré. The festival is part of the intercommunal cultural season, alongside the Automnales de Coucy-le-Château and other cultural events supported by the community.

Four evenings of free music in cafés

The format of the O'Bistrot Festival consists of four exceptional evenings spread over several days, each held in a different bistro within the territory. Participating establishments provide drinks and food, while invited artists offer sets adapted to the intimate ambiance of the venues. The programming favors lively and engaging music: French chanson, folk, alternative rock, acoustic music, and festive repertoires, in a participatory and popular spirit.

Artists up close with the audience

For its first edition in 2025, the festival notably featured Géraud Bastar, an alternative rock troublemaker offering a poetic and committed performance, at the Café du Paradis in Crécy-au-Mont. The festival invites artists capable of creating a direct connection with the audience in these everyday places of life that are bistros. Admission is completely free, in line with the commitment to make culture accessible to everyone in this rural area.

A festive and participatory event

The O'Bistrot Festival embodies a vision of culture in rural areas: proximity, conviviality, and free access. By taking over bistros instead of conventional performance venues, the festival creates unique moments of sharing where the lines between artists and audience blur. Café owners become one-night programmers, regulars discover live music in their favorite spot, and music lovers explore a charming territory through the traveling evenings.
