Celebration of Alsace's red wine and Neier Siasser at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile
Ottrott, a charming village nestled on the slopes of Mont Sainte-Odile, is one of the rare terroirs in Alsace to produce red wine. The Rouge d'Ottrott, made from Pinot Noir grown on ideally exposed sandstone soils, is distinguished by its ruby color, red fruit aromas, and fine tannins. This exclusive wine, produced by a handful of passionate winemakers, is inseparable from the village's identity.
In Alsace, the tradition of Neier Siasser (“new sweet”) marks the end of the grape harvest. This grape must in the early stages of fermentation, both sweet and sparkling, is enjoyed in the weeks following the harvest, accompanied by:
The Ottrott New Wine Festival perpetuates this tradition with the village winemakers.
Ottrott's wineries — including Domaine Fritz-Schmitt, Domaine Vonville, and Vins Lutz — open their doors and cellars for guided tastings. It's a unique opportunity to discover Rouge d'Ottrott in its birthplace, discuss the secrets of this grape variety with the winemakers, and immerse yourself in the daily life of the vineyard.
Dominated by Mont Sainte-Odile, a major pilgrimage site and a natural jewel of Alsace, Ottrott offers a magnificent setting with its terraced vineyards, its two medieval castles (Rathsamhausen and Lutzelbourg), and its Vosges forest. Vineyard walks are offered during the festival, with sensory stops to appreciate the terroir in all its aspects.
The Ottrott New Wine Festival is scheduled for October 2026. Detailed program to be announced.
