The AOP Pélardon goat cheese festival in Le Vigan, in the Cévennes
Le Printemps du Pélardon is a free festival celebrating the local Cévennes produce, held every spring at the Parc des Châtaigniers in Le Vigan (Gard). Organized by the Syndicat des Producteurs de Pélardon and the Communauté de communes du Pays Viganais, it celebrates AOP Pélardon raw goat's milk cheese, an emblem of the Cévennes and the Gard, through a producers' market, workshops, family activities, and local food.
Every spring, the Parc des Châtaigniers in Le Vigan hosts Le Printemps du Pélardon, a large free festival dedicated to Pélardon, a raw goat's milk cheese benefiting from a Protected Designation of Origin (AOP). The event marks the arrival of spring, the return of goats to the pastures, and the beginning of the peak season for this emblematic Cévennes cheese.
The event brings together producers, artisans, and families around an AOP Pélardon market and a local produce market. On the program: a mini-cheese dairy to discover Pélardon production, sensory tastings, sheepdog demonstrations, donkey rides, a mini-farm, workshops and games for children, musical entertainment, and local food on site.
Organized by the Syndicat des Producteurs de Pélardon and the Communauté de communes du Pays Viganais, Le Printemps du Pélardon is an unmissable event for lovers of local products and cheese heritage in the Gard.
The 14th edition of the Printemps du Pélardon took place on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM, at the Parc des Châtaigniers du Vigan (Gard). A free and friendly day centered around the AOP Pélardon goat cheese, marking this year the 25th anniversary of the AOP, with a producers' market, workshops, family activities, and local food.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Parc des Châtaigniers du Vigan hosted the 14th edition of the Printemps du Pélardon, from 10 AM to 6 PM. This free event, organized by the Syndicat des Producteurs de Pélardon and the Communauté de communes du Pays Viganais, celebrates the arrival of spring, the return of goats to the pastures, and the beginning of the peak season for Pélardon, an emblematic raw milk goat cheese from the Cévennes and Gard regions.
The 2026 edition had a special significance as it marked the 25th anniversary of the Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Pélardon.
In the heart of the Pays Viganais, the Printemps du Pélardon brings together producers, artisans, and families around local flavors. An AOP Pélardon market, a local produce market, sensory discovery workshops, and free activities punctuate this day dedicated to the cheese heritage of the Cévennes.
