Rock Métal Camp Fest: Open-air metal by the lake

Created in 2012 by the RockMetalCamp association at the instigation of extreme music enthusiasts, the Rock Métal Camp Fest has established itself as a must-attend event on the metal scene in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Every year, on the last weekend of May, the shores of the Plaisance lake in Saint-Hilaire-les-Places are transformed into a true temple of riffs and double bass pedals, welcoming several hundred festival-goers from all over France for free.

A 100% free festival

The main feature of Rock Métal Camp Fest is its total freeness. Thanks to the support of public and private partners, and the unwavering commitment of a team of volunteers, the festival allows all lovers of powerful music to discover quality programming without spending a cent. This philosophy of accessibility has been at the heart of the association's project since its first edition.

A demanding international program

Despite its intimate format, Rock Métal Camp Fest has nothing to envy from larger festivals of its kind. Each edition offers a lineup of twelve bands spread over two days, mixing emerging acts and internationally renowned artists. The 2025 edition notably featured Eternal Storm, Helevorn, Omega Diatribe, Ondfødt, Apotheus, Ravager, Sleazy Town, and Millhaven, offering a complete panorama of the different facets of contemporary metal: death metal, doom, thrash, heavy, and pure rock.

A unique natural setting

The Plaisance lake offers a green and atypical setting for a metal festival. Located in the Limousin countryside, just 35 minutes from Limoges, the site combines the powerful sound of concerts with the tranquility of a bucolic landscape. Food, drinks, and an exhibitor village complete the experience, making Rock Métal Camp Fest a moment of conviviality as much as a musical marathon.

Strong local roots

Chaired by Philippe Adam, the RockMetalCamp association carries this project with the conviction that metal culture has its rightful place in rural areas. The festival contributes to the influence of Saint-Hilaire-les-Places and Haute-Vienne, proving that small towns can host ambitious and unifying musical events.
