Sell'ta !: The Bilingual Festival of Books and Images
Born in 2022 in Le Relecq-Kerhuon, Sell'ta ! is a bilingual French-Breton cultural festival celebrating books, cinema, and photography. Its name, meaning "Look!" in Breton, is an invitation to take a curious look at contemporary literary and artistic creation, in the two languages that make up the cultural richness of Brittany.
A Project Supported by the Diwan Community
The festival is organized by Skolarn, the parents' association of the Diwan Penn-ar-Bed college, the first French-language immersion college in Brittany, located in Le Relecq-Kerhuon since 1988. This link with the Diwan network gives Sell'ta ! a special dimension: the festival is both a high-quality cultural event and a militant act in favor of the transmission of the Breton language. The profits generated by the event are entirely reinvested in financing the college's educational activities.
A Rich and Varied Program
Each edition of Sell'ta ! brings together around forty authors, illustrators, and exhibitors who take over L'Astrolabe and the François-Mitterrand media library in Le Relecq-Kerhuon. The program includes book signings and meetings with authors, creative reading and writing workshops, round tables on literary themes, conferences on Breton-language creation, screenings of short and feature films, and exhibitions of illustrations and photographs. Creative workshops for children and teenagers, by prior registration, complete the cultural offering.
An Event Rooted in its Territory
Sell'ta ! is fully integrated into the cultural fabric of Le Relecq-Kerhuon and the Brest metropolitan area. The festival benefits from the support of numerous local partners and relies on a network of enthusiastic volunteers, parents, and supporters of the Breton cause. In just a few editions, Sell'ta ! has managed to build a loyal audience attached to the quality of its programming and the friendly atmosphere of the event. The fair is open to everyone, Breton speakers or not, in a spirit of openness and cultural sharing.
A Growing Festival
Since its creation, Sell'ta ! has continued to grow, attracting more and more authors and visitors. The fourth edition, held on March 2, 2025, confirmed the festival's place in the cultural landscape of Finistère. The success of Sell'ta ! testifies to the vitality of literary and artistic creation in Brittany, and the public's attachment to local cultural events, rooted in the identity and values of the territory.
