The whole city vibrates to the rhythm of music on June 21st
Since its national creation in 1982, the Music Festival has become an unmissable event of the Strasbourg summer. Every June 21st, on the summer solstice, the Alsatian capital transforms into a huge open-air concert hall, offering everyone — amateur and professional musicians, spectators of all ages — an evening of free and friendly musical sharing.
The City of Strasbourg deploys an ambitious program each year with more than a dozen stages spread across the squares and streets of the historic center. Place Kléber, the beating heart of the city, hosts the main stage with nationally renowned artists. Place Saint-Étienne, Place du Marché Gayot, Square Louise Weiss, Place du Château, Place Saint-Thomas, and rue Sainte-Barbe offer as many stages with varied atmospheres.
The program mixes all musical genres in a spirit of openness and discovery: rock, jazz, electro, classical music, hip-hop, world music, French chanson, reggae, soul... Three "discovery" stages allow emerging artists to perform, while "partner" stages are programmed by local cultural actors, enriching the musical diversity of the evening.
All concerts are free and accessible without reservation. The stages are open from 7 PM to midnight. The tram network adapts its schedules to facilitate travel in the city throughout the evening. Security measures are in place to ensure the smooth running of this popular festival, which brings together tens of thousands of Strasbourg residents and visitors each year.
The magic of the Music Festival also lies in the spontaneous initiatives that flourish in all neighborhoods: street musicians, concerts in inner courtyards, terraces of bars and restaurants that resonate with live music. It is this effervescence, between the official program and urban surprises, that makes this evening in Strasbourg so uniquely charming.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Strasbourg will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the day of the summer solstice. The City of Strasbourg is deploying its usual setup with several main stages (Place Kléber, Place Gutenberg, Place Saint-Thomas…) and numerous partner stages in the Grande Île and the neighborhoods. The complete program for the 2026 partner stages, selected via a call for applications that closed on April 17, 2026, will be published progressively on ete.strasbourg.eu and culture.strasbourg.eu as the event approaches. All concerts are free.
The Fête de la Musique returns to Strasbourg on Sunday, June 21, 2026 for an evening of free concerts throughout the city center, from the summer solstice until midnight.
The City of Strasbourg is renewing its setup based on two modalities:
As every year, the City's discovery stages are set up on Place Kléber (main stage), Place Gutenberg, and Place Saint-Thomas. The Grande Île will also host several partner stages (Place du Marché Gayot, Square Louise Weiss, Place du Château, Place du Temple Neuf, rue Sainte-Barbe, Cour de l'Ancienne Manufacture des Tabacs, Place Grimmeissen, etc.). Concerts are also organized in the neighborhoods (Elsau, Cronenbourg, Hautepierre, Neudorf…).
The detailed program (artists, performance times, stage by stage) will be progressively announced by the City starting from May-June 2026 on culture.strasbourg.eu and ete.strasbourg.eu. Note: the AJAM association has already confirmed the programming of Trio Zarathoustra and a duo Thomas Briant (violin) / Julien Beautemps (accordion) on the Esplanade campus of the Université de Strasbourg starting from 6 PM.
All concerts are free and open access. The CTS network extends tramway and BHNS line service until 00:30, then night lines take over. Car traffic and parking are heavily restricted in the Grande Île: prioritize arriving on foot, by bike, or by public transport from park-and-ride facilities.
The Fête de la Musique takes place every year on June 21st, the day of the summer solstice. In 2026, it will be held on Sunday, June 21st. Concerts start in the late afternoon (around 5 PM-6 PM) in the peripheral districts and cultural venues, then the city center comes alive until midnight, with a peak in attendance at Place Kléber after 10 PM.
Tramway and BHNS: service extended until approximately 00:30. Night lines (N1, N2, N3) then take over with a frequency of one passage per hour until 5 AM. On D-Day, some central stations (Broglie, Homme de Fer, Alt Winmärik, Langstross Grand'Rue) may have adapted service — consult cts-strasbourg.eu for definitive schedules.
Bicycle: Vélhop stations available throughout the city center.
Car: traffic and parking very restricted in the Grande Île on the evening of the festival. Prioritize park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts + tram.
All concerts are free and open access, no reservation required. Bag checks at the entrances to the pedestrian perimeter; glass objects are prohibited.
