Accordion and traditional dance festival in the capital of the accordion
Tulle Remet le Son is the new accordion festival in Tulle, in Corrèze, created in 2025 by the City of Tulle to succeed the Nuits de Nacre festival, which had enlivened the city for 36 years before ceasing its activities in 2024. This new musical event, which takes place at the end of June, celebrates the accordion in all its forms and perpetuates Tulle's identity as the accordion capital. The festival combines conviviality, live music, dance, and heritage, with an ambitious program featuring renowned artists and young talents.
The Tulle Remet le Son program highlights the accordion in all its diversity: classical music, tango, folk, neo-trad, swing, and contemporary creations. The festival offers concerts in the city's bars and restaurants, indoor shows at L'Empreinte (Scène Nationale) and Salle Auzelou, street performances, and events at the Cité de l'accordéon et des Patrimoines. Several open-air stages are set up in the city center, notably Place Berteaud (current music stage) and Quai Baluze (trad/neo-trad stage).
In addition to concerts, Tulle Remet le Son places particular emphasis on traditional dance and folk dances. The association Le Bal d'à côté offers introductory workshops to traditional dance open to all. A large guinguette is set up on Sunday on Quai Baluze, along the Corrèze river, offering a festive and convivial open-air moment. The festival concludes with a grand musical parade followed by a pyrotechnic show by the company Les Commandos Percu.
Tulle maintains a strong historical link with the accordion and mother-of-pearl (nacre), a material formerly used to make instrument keys. The city houses the Cité de l'Accordéon et des Patrimoines, a cultural space dedicated to the history of the instrument and its influence. The Tulle Remet le Son festival is part of this heritage and cultural identity, keeping the accordion tradition alive while opening it to contemporary creations and new generations of artists.
Unlike the Nuits de Nacre, which was run by an association, Tulle Remet le Son is directly organized by the City of Tulle, in partnership with the Scène Nationale L'Empreinte, the Agence d'Attractivité Touristique de l'Agglomération de Tulle, and local cultural associations. This new governance model aims to ensure the festival's sustainability and its regional influence.
Second edition of Tulle Remet le Son, from June 25 to 28, 2026 in Tulle city center. Four days of festival with Richard Galliano headlining, Omar Hasan in his show Café Tango, Sanseverino on the open-air stage, and the company Les Commandos Percu for a pyrotechnic finale. Free concerts, dances, traditional dance workshops, and a big guinguette on Quai Baluze.
The second edition of Tulle Remet le Son will be held from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, confirming the anchoring of this accordion festival in the cultural landscape of Corrèze. After the success of the first edition in 2025, the City of Tulle continues its commitment to keep alive the accordion tradition of the city of mother-of-pearl.
The festival welcomes the great accordionist Richard Galliano, a major figure in jazz and tango, as its headliner. He will present his New Viaggio Trio on Saturday evening at L'Empreinte. Former international rugby player Omar Hasan, who has retrained as a baritone singer, will present his show Café Tango with accordionist Grégory Daltin on Friday evening. Singer-guitarist Sanseverino will animate the open-air stage Place Berteaud with his Shuffle Enterprise, with free access.
The festival opens on Thursday evening with Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater performed by the Chœurs du Pays de Tulle at Salle Auzelou. The Saturday evening closing is provided by the company Les Commandos Percu, with a grand musical procession followed by a pyrotechnic show in the heart of the city.
Throughout the festival, free concerts liven up the bars and restaurants in the city center, street performances take over the squares and alleys, and the association Le Bal d'à côté offers introductory traditional dance workshops. On Sunday, the big guinguette on Quai Baluze closes the festival in a festive and popular atmosphere along the Corrèze river.
The festival takes place in Tulle city center, with events on Quai Baluze, Place Berteaud, Place Gambetta, Place Tavé, at the Cité de l'accordéon et des Patrimoines, in bars, restaurants, and public spaces.
