The revival of Tulle's accordion festival

Tulle Remet le Son is the new accordion festival in Tulle, in Corrèze, created in 2025 by the City of Tulle to succeed the Nuits de Nacre festival, which had animated the city for 36 years before ceasing its activities in 2024. This new musical event, held at the end of June, celebrates the accordion in all its forms and perpetuates Tulle's identity as the capital of the accordion. The festival combines conviviality, live music, dance, and heritage, with an ambitious program mixing renowned artists and young talents.

Traditional and neo-trad accordion at the heart of the city

The programming of Tulle Remet le Son highlights the accordion in all its diversity: traditional music, folk, neo-trad, musettes, and contemporary creations. The festival offers concerts in the city's bars and restaurants, allowing for unique proximity between artists and the public, as well as street performances, balls, and introductory workshops for traditional dance. The 2025 edition featured Félicien Brut, a young accordionist discovered during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and Vincent Lhermet, the first accordionist in France to hold a doctorate in performance.

Balls, guinguette, and dance workshops

In addition to concerts, Tulle Remet le Son places a particular emphasis on traditional dance and folk balls, aspects that were less prominent during Nuits de Nacre. Introductory workshops are offered to the public to learn traditional dance steps, and a large guinguette is set up on Sundays on the quai Baluze, along the Corrèze river, offering a festive and convivial outdoor experience. The balls keep the popular tradition of dancing alive to the sound of the accordion, in the spirit of the guinguettes of yesteryear.

Tulle, city of accordion and mother-of-pearl

Tulle has a strong historical connection with the accordion and mother-of-pearl, a material once used to make instrument keys. The city is home to the Cité de l'Accordéon et des Patrimoines, a cultural space dedicated to the history of the instrument and its influence. The Tulle Remet le Son festival is part of this heritage and cultural identity, keeping the accordion tradition alive while opening it up to contemporary creations and new generations of artists.

A festival supported by the City of Tulle

Unlike Nuits de Nacre, which was run by an association, Tulle Remet le Son is directly organized by the City of Tulle, in partnership with cultural associations and local structures. This new governance model aims to ensure the festival''s longevity and regional reach. The first edition in 2025 was a great success, confirming the public's attachment to Tulle's accordion festival and the desire to perpetuate this popular musical tradition.

Tulle Remet le Son 2026: Accordion in the Spotlight

The second edition of Tulle Remet le Son will be held from June 26 to 28, 2026, confirming the establishment of this new festival in the cultural landscape of Corrèze. Following the success of the first edition in 2025, the City of Tulle continues its commitment to keeping the accordion tradition of the mother-of-pearl city alive.

The 2026 program, to be unveiled in the spring, is expected to once again feature renowned accordion artists, concerts in bars and restaurants, street performances, dance workshops, and the grand Sunday guinguette on the quai Baluze.
