About U Mele in Festa
U Mele in Festa is the only event in Corsica entirely dedicated to honey and its by-products. Organized by the Saint-Laurent association, it takes place on a Sunday in late September in the village of Murzo (Corse-du-Sud), in the Liamone valley. Around a hundred exhibitors from across the island set up in the streets, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors throughout the day.
U Mele in Festa — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of U Mele in Festa has been cancelled. The Murzo Honey Fair, originally scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, will not take place: the Saint-Laurent association is facing a shortage of volunteers and looks forward to welcoming everyone on Sunday, September 26, 2027, for the 30th anniversary.
The 2026 edition is cancelled
There will be no honey fair in Murzo on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The Saint-Laurent association decided to call off the 2026 event, announcing the news to its partners in a statement revealed on July 16, 2026, by ICI Corse (Radio France).
The reason: a shortage of volunteers
The association's president, Josée Cipriani, cited personal reasons and a lack of volunteers. About ten volunteers are unavailable, while the fair typically requires 60, including 10 specifically for setup and catering. "We prefer to postpone the event to 2027 rather than organize a subpar fair," she explained to ICI Corse. She also took the opportunity to issue a call for volunteers: "After 30 years, we are starting to burn out; we need new blood."
See you on Sunday, September 26, 2027
The association's board has already set the date for the next edition for Sunday, September 26, 2027, to celebrate the fair's 30th anniversary. The 2025 edition, the most recent one, brought together 110 exhibitors, including 24 beekeepers from across Corsica.
An cancellation that impacts the beekeeping sector
Pierre Torre, a beekeeper from Cuttoli-Corticchiato and an exhibitor for over 25 years, calls it "a hard blow," adding that "this fair is a vital tool for promoting and showcasing Corsican honey." The cancellation comes during a difficult year for island beekeeping: the colony mortality rate has risen from 7.3% in 2024 to over 21% in 2026, with livestock losses reaching 56%.

U Mele in Festa, the Murzo Honey Fair
On a Sunday in late September, the streets of Murzo, located in the Liamone valley in Corse-du-Sud, host the only Corsican event dedicated to honey and its derivatives.
The six AOP honeys of Corsica
All categories of the Mele di Corsica AOP are represented at the stalls: spring honey, spring maquis, maquis honeydew, chestnut grove, summer maquis, and autumn honey. Since 2023, the association and the FFRAAC have organized a competition rewarding one honey per category, with the results announced during the fair.
Around a hundred exhibitors
Beekeepers, producers, artisans, and associations run about a hundred stalls, all under the FFRAAC label, which guarantees authentic Corsican products and ensures every stall is inspected for each edition. The 2025 edition brought together 110 exhibitors, including 24 beekeepers.
The day's program
The fair is open from 9 am to 6 pm. It begins in the morning with a sung mass. The Casa di u Mele, from the Corsica Regional Natural Park, hosts an exhibition on beekeeping along with an educational beehive. The children's area, located at the top of the fair, features stalls and free games. At lunchtime, association volunteers serve a honey-themed meal under the marquee, by reservation.
